This game just reminds me of the Texas Ohio state game in 2005. Texas won that game 25-22 and I think that is pretty close to what i think the winning score will be in this game. How did your kicker look? I have lots of confidence in our punter and kicker. I think Tds will be hard to come by in this game so it is going to come down to who has the better kicker.
Kicker looked good. Hit a long of 48 yards. 2/2 for FG. Stingley looked good returning punts, you won't want your punter to outkick the coverage.
Special teams was fantastic. Punter had two punts I think. Averaged 52 yards. Getting McMahon from the Saints was a Godsend.
Pass defense has me losing confidence about next week, along with zero long runs. Ingram had a good game but we still haven’t broken any long ones and this was not a strong competitor. I’m fearful we may get our taste of humble pie Sat. Nonetheless I’ll be there hoping I’m wrong.
Any injuries for UT coming out of the game? I saw that Caden and Jones might have been dinged up. And the freshman RB with his sports hernia. No injuries for LSU that I'm aware of. Two starters sat out the game - LT Charles and ILB Divinity. Rumored one game suspensions, but O won't discuss discipline so we won't know if they are playing against UT until they appear in the game (or don't). Charles would be huge to get back. Divinity is good but his replacement, Damone Clark, got rave reviews in fall camp and played really well against Ga. Southern (9 tackles, second on the team).
I think he averaged over 7 yards per carry. Good enough for me. Just keep getting first downs and into the end zone. I don't give a rat's *** how you do it.
You're also the one that told everyone UT had a better secondary than LSU. Still feel that way? Did the transfer from GT play?
Think you should worry about the horns "D" more than anything else. LSU's "D" will show up and play lights out for 60 minutes no matter what the score is. If anyone hits the 40's it will be LSU. It's been a while since Texas "O" will have faced as good a defense as what they will see Saturday evening.
I said, Our D has to stop your offense, a far less task than your D stopping our offense. And I will stand by the fact that our Secondary is still better than yours. You guys were really impressed with beating up Georgia Southern. I've seen it before. I still think your oline is swiss cheese. And getting rave reviews playing Georgia Southern is a lot different than playing Texas. But since you are here talking up your team, I'm sure you know this. Last year you played La tech, what was the score? 38-21 How is it you only won by 17 pts? That seems a little low for the mighty SEC SEC SEC Must be because of that awesome DE they had last year. None of this matters now, in 6 days we will know and no amount of talk will change the outcome.
Agree, LSU will probably be the best defense that Texas will face this season, but it is also mostly the same defense that was exhausted and quit in the 4th quarter against aggy in the last regular-season game in 2018.
Which aggy immediately memorialized on their stadium cups. I'm so glad your conference was foolish enough to adopt those goobers.
It was a $EC Conference game so no excuse for not caring. That quit should have cost the entire coaching staff their job.
There is no FACT in the statement that ut has a better secondary than the tigers. Just a lot of homerism. No concern that an offense with three new WRs lit up the horns secondary for somewhere around 350 yards. They threw 50+ passes I believe. No sacks for that great UT "D". Where was that cat quick Dlineman that can really get after the QB? I don't think I brought up Georgia Southern one time but, I get it. I will say this about that game. That was one of the cleanest games I have ever seen LSU play. Totally focused. No turnovers. Finished +2 in turnover margin. Very few penalties. Scored TDs first five possessions. Defense held opponent under 100 yds total O. Last year is last year has no bearing on '19 season. As of 9/2/19 do you think the University of Texas football team is better than the one that beat UGA in the sugar bowl? I can say without hesitation that this LSU team is lightyears better than the team they had in '18.
There is no "probably" in that first sentence. I will take it a step farther. This will be the best "D" anyone on the UT "O" has ever gone up against. All americans on DL, LB, CB and safety. The tigers front seven goes two deep not only with experience but quality also. LSU wasn't nearly as deep last year along front seven. Secondary is DBU, all that needs to be said.
I didn't realize that the All American selections had come out. You guys just do not understand what you are about to get hit with. Even with assumed AA's at LB, CB and Safety that leaves 2 potential AA's to run free beyond the LoS.
Being perfectly frank, I still think our safeties are better than LSU’s safeties, but our young CBs aren’t even in the same league as LSUs CBs—not yet anyways. I don’t want to denigrate any individual player, so I’ll just say we may see some changes in our starting lineup at the CB position ... Fortunately, we’ll likely put up some serious points. I’m standing by my pick: UT by 7.
It’s strange how aTm put up so many points against this vaunted Tiger defense, and so late in the year.
Ehlinger has produced 45 touchdowns in his last 15 games Yet some people can't wait to take shots at his game - i never got it, he is a likeable kid with a great story.
Really not as good an argument as you think it is. It's actually kind of aggy. Maybe those guys are rubbing off on the SEC.
