Most important news was that there was a moment of silence to honor Johnny Lam Jones & Cedric Benson.

Normally, when the team runs out, there is a Texas flag, US flag, and a flag with a Longhorn on it. Last night, the Longhorn flag had the number "32" below the Longhorn. (Actually more like 3 to the left of the snout and 2 to the right.) I hope someone got a picture of that flag.

Bevo Blvd and the "midway" appear to be a huge success as evidenced by the majority of fans not being in their seats early.

University PD still has no common sense or concept of traffic flow.

Memorial Stadium was FILTHY! There was dust on the hand rails and seats that a box of napkins couldn't clean. A couple of decades ago, Deloss and I had a serious meeting about this. It is in excusable. After our meeting, Deloss had the stadium washed down before the next home game. Only has to be done once a year. First call on Monday morning will be to Chris to request a "washing" before Saturday.

Again, Herman didn't show anything on offense. The OL has a LOONNG way to go.

I can imagine that was emotional at DKR. My wife, daughter, and I were getting choked up in Burr Ridge, IL.

Del Conte was getting some complaints on Twitter last night. I don’t know how many because I just saw the ones he replied to. He’s pretty impressive about doing that publicly. Some complaints seemed petty (to me) but he acknowledged them anyway. I think he and his team are working hard to be responsive to the fans, which I respect.

Isn't some of that also the CoA or APD's decision (both of to whom the same criticisms would apply)?

University kiddie korp has always been in charge. The other agencies are working games as an extra job at about $50/hour.

If you remember the short tenure of that moron from Ohio State, he designed the plan to evacuate the stadium in the event of an emergency. His plan was to have you go to your car, then drive toward the stadium to find the nearest evacuation route.

And of course, the great storm evacuation, when they sent 80,000 people out to play "dodge the lighning bolts" on the street with 2 inch and hour rain and 50 mph winds. I went to the concession/restroom area on the 7th level and sat down. When University police told us we had to leave, I told them to arrest me, but only i they pulled the patrol car into Deloss' parking place under the stadium. I invited them to go look from the down ramp out at San Jacinto and the thousands of trying to get away. Those officers decided to take my advice and sit down to wait out the storm.

    No common sense.

Bravo Blvd is a security nightmare. Great opportunity for an El Paso or Odessa nut

SH, when you’re speaking with CDC please tell him to explain to Bob Cole that he is not announcing a WWE event and that 99.5% of the fans are there for Texas. Why he screams out first downs etc for the other team is inexplicable. In fact, why he screams at all is beyond me. Come on dude.

Cole means well but I’ll bet that Wally Pryor is rolling around in his grave during every home game.

    Duke,

We have already discussed the need for a new announcer, as well as the racket on the jumbotron. I'm sure some former band member can tell you the number of times the band played and/or could be heard.

Where, other than the bowels of hell, do they get that crap?

Cole reminds me of those announcers that talk just to hear themselves---he made a couple of miscues last night, including saying,"...and now, Longhorn fans, here's another favorite (or something to that effect), March Grandioso!" (to which the band began playing "Deep in the Heart of Texas"

"Song"? Was that supposed to be music? Sounded more like the inside of the hog slaughter building at Port City Stockyards, although they did give us some relief with 3-4 Stevie Ray songs.

What, to disorient the hogs before slaughter?

The band needs to face the closed end of the stadium...Being on the open end and facing the West has all the sound going out the Southwest end of the stadium...Band needs to be in the South end facing the North end zone when they finish the South end zone.

Put the band where they were when I attended, between 30 and 40, lower stands field up. Marginalizing student participation is a sure fire way to kill football.

Whomever speaks with the band Director, please tell him or her to knock off the drawn out holding of the final note in the slow "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" thing after a big hit, etc. It's ridiculous, annoying, and high school like.

Even though they hammered up some barnwood siding and started to sell Stubb's BBQ at the Section 103 concession stand, the upper deck is still a dump with pathetic restrooms. When will the west side upper deck get renovated? It has not been upgraded since I started sitting here in 1992.

And don't get me started on the volume of the PA system. I not sure we even have a band.
