Maybe Gbenda will be a two-way backup. Else, a spin down of BJ Foster or Overshown to OLB is a possibility--if we have to. We're thinner than a Tokyo runway model at both RB and LB.

And we had no earthly idea how tough and physical Georgia was last year, third only to king bama and the sons of Clem. I know they didn’t care about the game and weren’t interested or motivated and that is true of all $-E-C $-E-C teams against non-conference opponents because well you know, their like, not $-E-C worthy so not worth the time. Swamp aggy may win since we don’t have enough healthy rb’s to even try a running game, but my guess is it will be close either way. I guess it’s a good thing that the transitive property theory doesn’t apply to college football or we would lose 55-0 to Swamp aggy offense and 22-0 to swamp aggy defense (77-0 total for a full aggy-esque loss on our part). The Horns are truly DOOMED!!!!!!

He (Braun) played most of the game. From what I saw, he missed picking up one delayed LB blitz, had the false start, but otherwise played very well and was really pushing around guys who looked bigger than him. He's either phenomenally strong, a master at leverage/technique/angles, or both.

Long time posters know Dionysus has a sense of humor. Mostly on this board we have fun. If you want to get back at him, try being clever. If you wanna fight go to Surly Horns.

Cosmi vs. Lawrence is a key matchup to watch in the trenches. Arguably our best vs. their best. If LSU has to constantly blitz 1-2 LBs to bring pressure, there will be a lot of openings over the middle and open RBs in the flats.

Over the years, and recently, we've done pretty well against brawny physical teams that are used to bullying their competition.

We've had some trouble at times with good "true" dual threat QBs, especially those running complex offenses hitting on all cylinders.

Chaisson is listed as a LB but plays more like a defensive end. Has good size too. If he gets constant pressure then Ehlinger will be running for his life. If they pass protect that side well then Aranda will have to disguise blitzes. I don’t wish injuries on anyone, but Chaisson is a violent hitter. Knocked the starting qb out of the game with a dislocated shoulder.

Yeah, Roschon probably dreamed he'd be throwing passes to RBs in the flats as a Freshman, not catching passes as an RB in the flats...

The comments I am reading from the LSU fans is reminiscent of what the Georgia fans were saying late last December.

For my money the best player on the field will be # 11 for Texas. He happens to play the most important position on the team.

Both teams have the foundation of a lot of great recruiting for the past 4 years. LSU is rightfully favored by virtue of more stable returning starter set. In Texas favor, the most important player on the field in college football (by a large margin) is the QB. This has always been true but ever more so with the many rule changes that advantage offenses, QB's, and in particular throwing offenses. It is damn hard to sack a QB when he can effectively ground the ball in most circumstances (throw it away or at the feet of some eligible receiver).

I feel like it will be a close game as Sam Ehlinger is a very tough kid that makes plays and does what he has to do to win. We now have coaches that can make in game adjustments, unlike some previous regimes. We did what we had to do and reflected that we are a decent team by dominating LA Tech. We did show weaknesses that could be exploited by another strong team.

We've held our own against big name highly ranked interconference teams over the years and LSU fans should not underestimate the difficulty of coming into Austin to beat the horns. However, I accept the horns as an underdog, but not a big one. If our O-Line can provide even decent pass protection, I look for Ehlinger to be a difference maker to make it a coin flip game.

Our RB room was supposed to be-
    Ingram
    Whittington
    Johnson
    Young
    Brown
    Smith
    Now -5

Other injuries besides Whittington (6 weeks)
    WR Collin Johnson: Day-to-Day
    TE Jared Wiley: Doubtful
    OL Zach Shackelford: Uncertain
RB Kirk Johnson: Out 6 weeks
    RB Daniel Young: Out

“It was a waste of time,” says one high-placed source at LSU.
“He was always going to Texas.”

Thanks for posting this info. Did Shackelford play last week? Unfortunately I don't get LHN from my cable company.

That would be OK with me, but Ingram is Watson now, and he might get 20 carries?
    Balanced with Sam's
Then The Mighty Roschon who Herman said "took to RB like a duck to water (or maybe it was a fish?)"

If we keep Sam healthy, we can win it

I guess Daniel Young is completely off the table for playing time this week?

I know he has had some ball protection issues but he’s been a pretty solid RB.

Not much point in comparing the teams since we are close to kickoff, and have covered all that ad nauseum already. But since you guys are amused at LSU fans excitement over the Ga. Southern game, some perspective:

That was LSU's biggest halftime lead (42-3) since they dismantled Arizona in 2003. I remember watching that game and thinking, Holy ****, LSU has a good team this year. That's the year LSU beat Oklahoma in the BCSCG.

LSU had plenty of very good teams from 2004 to 2011, played in the BCSCG twice, and played plenty of bad teams, but never duplicated that kind of first half domination in the intervening years. The fact LSU played that well this year doesn't mean they are headed to the CFP, but for an LSU fan, that game was a lot of fun to watch. Add that to a very veteran team that was already expected to be a CFP contender, and we're downright giddy.

The game doesn't really mean anything, but it's a tantalizing promise of how good this LSU team might be in 2019.

Can't wait for a better measuring stick in your stadium this weekend.

Now you're starting to get a grasp on the situation. By the way LSU was 20 pts better than UGA last year. You need to knock them down a few more notches.
