It was reported last night that Texas MBB had hired Kansas' MBB S&C coach, Andrea Hudy, to replace Daniel Roose who returned to VCU a few weeks ago. That by itself would've been a huge win for the Longhorns program but it also impacts WBB:

In her new role at Texas, Hudy will have oversight of the strength and conditioning program for both the UT Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs. Hudy, who will report to Allen Hardin (Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director/Performance, Health and Wellness), will serve as the primary sport performance coach for the Men’s Basketball team. Zack Zillner will continue in his role as women’s basketball sports performance coach under the supervision of Hudy.

Zillner worked with Hudy previously at Kansas. By all accounts, Hudy is one of the best (if not THE best), most innovative basketball S&C coaches in college basketball.

“Andrea Hudy is widely recognized as one of the finest strength and conditioning coaches in the nation for the sport of basketball,” Texas Women’s Basketball head coach Karen Aston said. “I’m excited that she is joining the Texas Family, and I know she will have a great impact on our men’s and women’s basketball programs. Andrea has been a mentor to Zack (Zillner) for his entire career, and he has done a fantastic job with our team for the past two seasons. Together, Texas Basketball will be served by the best strength and conditioning team in the nation.”

Another bit of her resume I found that impresses:

She also spent nine-and-a-half years with the University of Connecticut, where she worked with eight different national championship-winning teams and spent time around women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma and men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun.

Absolutely, it also doesn’t hurt that her dad runs one of the best AAU programs in the state in San Antonio finest.

Every college basketball program has a video coordinator and it’s almost always an entry level position for someone looking to start their coaching career. Regardless of who her father is, Recee checks all the usual boxes and then some. There are areas of improvement within the program that need to be worked on but trying to diminish Recee out of hand is just...SMH.
