About 2/3 of the way into the article one can view some samples and learn about John Churchill Chase: Texas Pregamer: Rice
My grandson is 11, and the Rice ticket office gave him one of those posters. Then I had to explain to him that we used to get REAL programs, and that said programs used to have drawings on the cover like that. When I asked Bellmont why we cheaped out on programs, I was told because we lose $5,000 per game on those programs. So, with a $215 million budget, we cheaped out of real programs to save $30,000. Question: How much extra does it cost to have that **** music blaring out of the jumbotron for four hours?
Always looked forward to Bill DeOre's Dallas newspapers SWC cartoons on Fridays or Saturday's . Also always had a great preseason cartoon like the one above. Unfortunately those days are long gone.
Not the same, but I used to go to the downtown Houston Post Office on Fridays to get the Times Herald just to read Joe Bob goes to the Drive In Guy was great.
It's not just the aggies, Dirk West beat up on us too... (this one presumably after a bad loss or a rash of injuries):
Or...framed another way...how much do they LOSE by pissing people off enough to stay away BECAUSE of the music blaring from godzillamegajumbotron?
This was the poster I had on my wall as a kid. I also had a poster with Walt Garrison on it. Then, later came Cheryl Tiegs and Farrah Fawcett.
