How do you ever lose from being up 49-17 with under 20 minutes left in the game?? .... How did UCLA score 50 points in 20 minutes? A team that averaged 14 points a game in the first 3 weeks? How can a quarterback who threw for 570 yards and NINE touchdowns lose the game? Holy cow.

    Pitt win over UCF.....
On trick play...QB is actually in motion toward the LOS which is not legal....Refs should have flagged them and no TD....

Glad I went to sleep before watching the end of that apparent sh!t show. Dang, that PAC 12 is crazy this year. With WSU falling to a horrendous UCLA, there's nobody with a clear track to the playoffs (I expect Cal to drop 2-3 games). The PAC has a bunch of good, but no great, teams.

Yeah that looked pretty sloppy and without care or concern in the end, but...

In defense of the Eagles OL, they did give their QB a whopping 8 seconds to throw before he was sacked. That sack is on the WRs for not getting open or the QB for not finding the open man.

6 TO's. Goes to show that you can throw 9 Touchdowns in a game and still lose if you can't keep possession of the ball.

6 TOs, plus allowing a kick and punt to both be returned for TDs.

    Tonight Thursday 9/26:

    Navy v Memphis

Both are undefeated teams that should pose a real challenge to Dallas (SMU) for supremacy in their mid-major conference. Neither look like Top 25 material (at least yet), but both are pretty good teams. The (soon to be) ring-knockers are also part of a broader resurgence of the academies in college football. Memphis is usually pretty good, so this could be an entertaining watch.

The way I recall it is that there was one particularly respected poster, for some reason, who pounded his fists because he was a slugger, that Morris was the answer for Texas. People around here fell all over themselves like teenage girls at an Elvis concert to hear what that guy had to say. He was never wrong.

Morris might have done very well here. Being the HC is not only about your coaching abilities, it also has to do with how you fit within the culture at the given school that hired you. It's about the staff you bring in, the exposure your school affords you (and we afford our coaches far more exposure than piggy does), and that exposure assists your ability to recruit the level of talent you need to make yourself look like a good coach.

There are never any guarantees, (unless you're Jimbo and you have rube aggy fanboyz guaranteeing you $75 million because that's just how stupid they are, but I digress...) but making the assumption that Morris would have failed at a different school is just as wrongheaded as assuming Chip Kelly would make UCLA great simply because he had success at previous coaching stops.

Memphis with a QB roll out, throwing for a TD. Memphis takes the lead over Navy 21-20. 3rd Q.

Nice red zone offensive play calling.

Memphis’ defensive front is strong, fast, and disruptive. Their penetration is blowing up the Navy offense.

    Final

    Memphis 35
    Navy 23

Memphis seems to have noticeably better overall talent than other teams in their mid-major conference. Dallas (SMU) will have their hands full with this Memphis team.

Memphis has some butt ugly uniforms though...
Especially in comparison with those fabulous new Dallas unis.:smile1:

    Tonight Friday 9/27:

Penn St v. Maryland--Penn St should take down one of our nemeses, Maryland without too much trouble. The talent differential is striking. The Lions likely be aOSU's biggest challenger in the Big 10 East with Michigan down in the dumps for now.

Arizona St v. Cal--this could be the game where undefeated #15 Cal comes back to reality. If not tonight, then soon. Don't look for the Golden Bears to get through conference play without 2-3 losses. Cal does have a good and consistent pass rush though, which is a refreshing thing to see. ASU Freshman QB Jayden Daniels is lighting up scoreboards in the air, and he's also a good runner (which he'll need to be against the Cal pass rush).

ASU has been lousy in recent years. In Daniels, they may have found the spark to awaken the sleeping moderately-tall guy that historically is ASU football. My 2nd favorite conference is up for grabs this year. Either of these two teams could belong in any Pac 12 championship race discussion (for now at least ...).

aOSU @ Nebraska, Saturday night. I guess the only real suspense here is whether aOSU will cover the spread.

State Penn vs the Fighting Lockleys - two low rent, chicken **** coaches who really don't like each other. May set a record for Personal Foul penalties.

Is it my tv or do Penn St players look like giants compared to the Terps? Wow, big difference across the board.

I expected Penn State to win by double digits. I did not expect them to win by a margin closer to triple digits than to single digits.
