I'm really disappointed in our coaching staff and to a large extent our tackling. This game was there for us to win but the better team at the moment won.

I thought we could win, didn't happen. Get healthy, look for revenge in December. And hopefully the coaching staff learned from this. They were embarrassed by their DC

First game of the Herman era I felt we were clearly out schemed, out coached and physically beaten. Disappointing, but as you state, if we can get healthy, we have the opportunity to be a much better team at the end of the season than we are right now.

Agreed. And it wasn't even close in those categories. Isn't he supposed to be a offensive mind? That game plan did not put Texas in position to succeed, and didn't adjust even after it was clearly demonstrated that OU was eating it up.

Improvement needs to be made in a number of areas for there to be a rematch.

Uhhh....Shogun.....did you miss the Maryland series? "Out schemed, out coached and physically beaten". Check. Check. Check. Until he proves otherwise those are the signature moments of the Herman Era. Beat someone you shouldn't. Lose to someone you shouldn't.

This Oklahoma team with Hurts is light years better than the teams they had with Mayfield and Kyler. He is not a liability that is going to force their defense to be on the field 90 snaps a game.

But to believe that this is the first time that Herman and his staff have been exposed is a deeply flawed vision. Sillwater 2018 anyone?

Good points. I think I'm most surprised at the physical domination and overall lethargy.

eh. we're injured, Foster is playing on one leg, Sam has a rib problem, but none of that compares to OU reloading on offense and getting a defensive coordinator that coached up his side of the ball. Hopefully we'll see them again in the CCG.

Maybe I need to drink more to feel that a rematch in December has Texas come out on top unless ou was SO cocky they just laid down a turd.

we'll have to be 100% healthy, meaning all starters are back including Whittington who is also a stud on film and weight room but not yet on the field.

Simply put, we’re not there yet. We shall see just how far from ‘there’ we are shortly.

He needs to red shirt immediately. It would be a travesty to waste him this year.

If/when Whittington is 100% (!), I would selectively play him, keeping in mind that he can play four games and not lose his redshirt. That could potentially include a CCG and a bowl game...

Probably because, if I am not mistaken, aside from Ehlinger and Duvernay, we only ran the ball 10 times — repeat, TEN TIMES! RJ’s YPC was 11.9. I wonder if we should have run more, and run RJ more...?

Will be interesting to see if Baylor jumps us in the polls.

Doesn't matter, I guess. We can still win Big XII.

Holding ou to 34 was pretty good. We did a decent job of bending but not breaking. Our offense, on the other hand, didn't play as well as I expected. Sam seeming immobile most of the day, receivers dropped passes, and our run game was awol most of the game.
Still and all, we were in it till the end, only lost by seven. We could indeed face them in December.

I'm not happy with the result today, but we have our 2 losses to two top 5 teams. No way that happens.

    34 -27 but felt more like 55 -14.

We were woefully unprepared on offense and made things EASY for them on defense.
Tim beck is still Tim beck...,

And I am over Todd Orlando... his scheme is too high risk. Plays right into the hands of most of the offenses we face. It feels like we can never get off the ******* field unless we’re lucky enough to get a turnover... On the positive side, I think we had several young players get good experience on defense today who will be good depth down the road. I actually thought our defense was good enough to win if our offense had showed up at all.

The shame of it is I feel like this was a winnable ball game for us. But we were damn lucky to be within a score.

What particularly embarrassed Texas today was repeatedly running horizontal plays when they did not work in the first half. Neither did the two plays they ran with DD in the backfield.

Even worse was running the exact same horizontal plays in the second half which failed in the first half. That is an adjustment for failure? Really?

The worst thing was that neither the OC nor the DC had a plan B for the failures of either the DL nor especially the OL. Just Piss Poor game planning and play calling adjustment.

His protection was worse than it was with his freshman year OL. The receiver coverage was much better under Grinch, which surprised me, and evidently Herman also. He had no answer.

Going vertical was a much better plan than going horizontal and losing yards constantly.

Not to sound simplistic, but we should have scored more points. And we had ample opportunities to do so. If you had told me we were going to hold OU to 34 points - especially after that first drive, I would have said we win.

9 sacks given up, and you pin it all on the DC? Laughable.

I was fine with going vertical. What i wasnt fine with was the slow developing routes that had Sam standing in the pocket for 5+ seconds. When your line keeps getting their butts kicked, how about rolling the pocket, get CJ on an isolation route and hit him 15 yds downfield? Instead we left Sam back there as a sitting duck.

Texas OL never figured out the delayed blitz's. Every opponent from here on out will try the same thing until Texas shows they have figured it out.

I feel like Beck took the week off. That game plan was horrible.

OU had a great game plan and the athletes to execute it.

Sending all the receivers deep then letting Hurts work his magic, if the opening was there, was surgical precision. Along with the delayed blitz, we never found a solution.

Like someone else said, it felt like we got beat by 20, not 7. I guess there is a silver lining in the fact we were still in position to pull out the win.
