4g is not enough? How many will be?

Here is some of Mike Finger's article today --

" .... His quarterback didn’t play perfectly this time, and that was the main reason why his sixth-ranked Sooners didn’t pour it on No. 11 UT any worse than the 34-27 final score. If Jalen Hurts hadn’t gifted the Longhorns two turnovers in the first half, Tom Herman might have been hard-pressed to avoid the kind of humiliating Red River shellackings that Mack Brown and Charlie Strong knew all too well.

UT managed to hang around, and might get another chance at the Sooners in December. But Riley now has topped Herman three times in four chances, and it took him less than two months to avenge his only loss.

He has Oklahoma pointed toward a third consecutive playoff berth, with a third different quarterback, and this has to drive the Longhorns crazy.

They were supposed to be the ones to have hired college football’s up-and-coming coaching prodigy, the guy with the innovative offensive mind and knack for recruiting. And yes, Herman has delivered on a lot of that promise, putting UT in a much better place than it’s been in almost a decade.

He also, however, has spent the bulk of his tenure in the shadow of his younger rival. Riley inherited better players, for sure, but his stock as a genius keeps soaring with every crossing pattern one of his brilliant receivers effortlessly turns into a long touchdown, and it’s no wonder that fans of teams such as the Cowboys wonder what kind of plays he might be able to draw up in the NFL....."

Sooo when Sam is surrounded with the offensive weapons that Oklahoma has we’ll be on the same page. When we have to use a quarterback to be our best running back, we’re not there. When our best safety has to play with a bad shoulder and a bad hamstring, we’re not there yet.

Jalen Hurts did not "gift" Texas anything. The defense earned those turnovers.

No, it is not the players. It is the coaching. Texas was ill prepared and poorly coached in the game. They did not have enough plays so they kept calling ones that did not work. Neither OC nor DC had a Plan B. There were no halftime adjustments. They had a bad game plan for which they coached the team poorly and they stuck to it.

Agree, I like our mix of skill players on offense, Getting Whittington back will create an interesting question on what to do with Ingram

And thankfully, we have help on the way on the OL --
The # is the 247 Comp ranking:
    Samuel Cosmi 3-star 1123
    Braun, Parker 3-star 442
    Zach Shackelford 3-star 1150
    Junior Angilau 4-star 125
    Derek Kerstetter 3-star 619

    BurntOrange LH....fully agree.
Media and many others always seem to say the offense did this or the defense did this but seldom give credit to to opposite side of the line having anything to do with the success or lack of success of he plays result.....fumble, intercept or whatever occurred. Certainly, the interception and fumbles were a gift from Hurts!!!!!

Injuries, injuries, injuries; how many more until we call up all walk-ons. Of course announcers will not acknowledge how the depth is impacted by multiple injuries.

"Injuries" was not the reason OU ***** slapped our offense.

A good team down 10-3 at half ties it up and makes it competitive for rest of game. Horns didn’t do that.

I bet when we beat everyone else on our schedule, those fans thought, even though they had lesser ranked players and maybe some injuries, they were poorly coached and THAT'S why they lost to Texas.

I'll add that this screams "there are no bad children just bad parents".....

Don't worry. I have a plan. Jerry Jones fires Jason Garrett and hires Riley. Problem solved!

Watch out though we might get rid of Herman and hire John Blake.

The only reason the score was so close was because of the effort of the players. It was not due to game planning, adjustments nor scheming of the coaches.

Yes, this is the first game that I felt the gameplan was poor but you can't take away the difference in talent as well. You take Sam off of this team and we at hoping to get to 6 games. We have zero depth, and our top players are no where close to their top players except at Qb. Give Herman a few more classes and things will be good.

I don't give a **** who coaches in Norman, nor should any other Longhorn fan.

Let's worry more about who is on our payroll, and whether or not they are earning their money.

Saturday was totally baffling. What the hell was the offensive scheme supposed to be other than totally offensive to me?

More later on observations from the upper deck, which apparently were not seen on TV

If Orlando can't or won't make changes then he needs to go and Herman needs to have the balls to make it happen friendship be d**ned.
Offensively our receivers need to get open/separation so that Sam can get rid of the ball. Sometimes you got to throw the ball before the receiver makes his cut LIKE BURROW DOES. We need a better timing system. For heaven's sake we have a super fast receiver with maybe the best hands in the country. We need a new passing coordinator Herman!

That's a bunch of bs. We've been out recruiting them. They can do more with less. And that chaps my butt.

Look, the coaches stunk up the place. I do not know why, but hopefully Herman does. They have outcoached Riley in the past along with many other staffs.

Hopefully they can get it back together with a better game plan and some alternative in game plays and schemes if the originals do not work.

To Herman's credit, the culture is alive and well on the team. They just need better guidance and polishing of techniques. The team did not quit.

They better, because every team is going to try to copy what OU did.

When Stoops handed his whistle to Riley, he left the cupboard well-stocked with talent. Herman was not as fortunate - Strong didn't leave the cupboard bare, but it certainly was not as well-stocked as Riley inherited at Zero U. Let's see how it looks after another year or two, when Herman has stocked his own cupboard.
