It's also what my 8 year old kid told me this morning after he saw a white conservative man give the ok hand symbol.

I think that would be an "assaholic."

I'm not suggesting that a person's character shouldn't matter. I'm saying that a person being an ******* (meaning in personality) shouldn't be decisive. For example, if someone says that they won't vote for Trump because he lies, I get that. It does go to his character.

However, I don't think that's the issue for many, if any. We tolerate liars in politics all the time. We always have. In fact, being honest is one of the surest paths to defeat.

I can also understand if you don't vote for him because he has been a philandering pig who treats women like trash. That also goes to his character. However, if you voted for Bill Clinton who stuck his schlong in everything that moved and also treated women like trash, it's hard to claim that to be the reason to oppose Trump.

I get your point. People will tire of Trump's assholery as they would tire of Manziel's. (Of course, Manziel sucked, which made the decision to shitcan him a lot easier.) I just think it's a dumb reason. I didn't like Trump's idiotic behavior in 2016 and really don't like that he continues it in office. I think it's juvenile, makes us all dumber, and is politically stupid as hell. Whether I think it's smart to vote against somebody for their personality, many do so regardless of my view. However, that's not why I voted against him in 2016 and won't be the reason I vote against him again in 2020. (I'm still undecided on 2020.)

Driving home from taking kids to the zoo today and was listening to A&M-Alabama. Diggs from Alabama intercepted a pass but was called for defensive holding. One Aggie announcer said "so he held him until the ball came and then intercepted it. That's an old Indian trick"...… The other announcer said nothing in response but I chuckled thinking "and that's the last time we ever heard that guy on the radio"...…..

What's concerning about this is that even though probably 60 percent of the population doesn't care about what Newsweek says, and about 40 percent of them actively avoid it, the people with no opinion get to see this stuff on the news stands every week and they think this is "mainstream" - because Newsweek always USED to be a news magazine. The true believers get even more activated in their craziness, the moderates more and more see the craziness as "normal," and we become more and more divided as a culture.

Just FYI - that Newsweek article is 10 years old. It's still stupid, but it's not at all recent.

I can top that. One night about ten years ago, Mrs. Deez was driving home to Austin from Killeen, and she turned on the radio. A Temple High School football game was on. One of the commentators described the cheerleaders' dance as a "jigaboo dance." He was an old man and said it with a complimentary tone, but he did use that term. She said the other guys in the booth immediately spoke over him.

She is hot. I hope she doesn't get her head severed. Here's what's sad. I'm sure parts of Pakistan are beautiful. I've also heard that some of the beaches in Somalia are beautiful. However, these are dangerous places to just go roaming around in, and there are other beautiful places she can visit that are much safer. It's really dumb.

It wasn’t till 10 years ago that I learned that term for dancing was offensive. I knew it wasn’t proper to say in public, but I didn’t know it was offensive.

Yeah, the word "jigaboo" is pretty much never ok. Lol.

The really sad thing was that the name of the restaurant had precisely ZERO racial connotation in the naming OF the restaurant.

The perpetually offended got an early start with that one...

My dad went to Berkeley in the late '60s and was in a rock band. Of course, everybody was in a rock band back then, but theirs actually made money. My mom hung out in Haight-Ashbury and briefly lived on a commune. They were about as close to the stereotypical '60s culture as it gets. Other then some of the music, they don't miss it.

What I think would have bugged me is the smoking (weed and cigarettes), the shaggy long hair, and the tendency for dudes not to bathe regularly.
