My first incoming call this morning was from two former Texas QBs, who were full of questions and reminded me of why I hate having to watch games on TV, which rarely shows the real game.

    1) Did we have an offensive game plan? Why couldn't we read the defense and adjust for it?

    2) Why was OU able to cover our WRs one on one when no one else has? Bump & run, then stick like glue. Safety over the top if needed, which they seldom were.

    3) OU's defense featured a five man front - 3 DL & two DBs or small LBs on the line outside our tackles, one of whom was to spy on Sam, the other rushed. Why the hell didn't we spy Hurts?

    4) Do we ever have tackling drills? Any Longhorn that has a hit on the ESPN highlight reel should lose his scholarship. To hell with ever making "that play". WRAP UP!

    5) Mike is the best referee in the country, but is saddled with a **** crew provided to him by Walt Anderson & Walleye Burks. holding calls and pass interference were rampant by the Sooners, but rarely if ever called,

We were emotionally unprepared with an incredibly poor game plan. Were there adjustments? 100 yards rushing with 57 coming on one play. WRs couldn't get off the line. OL confused by stunts, with the fourth guy rarely accounted for.

Give it to the kids, we should have lost by 40, but they never quit (see Mackovic against aTm & 1973 OU). I don't think it will happen, but I would love for Orlando to study OU's defensive scheme and implement it. I fully expect to see a similar defense from Baylor and from Iowa State.

All that said, there was some great scenery in our section, but I shall defer to another poster sitting up there as well.

Two missed tackling opportunities particularly confused me. One, when Lamb catches near out of bounds and stands there to get his balance, both feet close to line, second when receiver - not Lamb, bobbles the ball obviously prior to securing. On both those plays we have a defender there that actually looks like he stands there waiting for the guy to get set before he makes or I should say, attempts to make anything resembling a tackle! I’m screaming HIT HIM.

You must have missed Herman's PC at noon. Brace as the answer is NO. Herman said they stopped that because to many were getting hurt.

Well. our opponents sure don't need to be worried about getting hurt from our tackling abilities - see also Mr Lamb

I continue to be amazed that these studs make it to D-1 football at UT without good tackling funfamentals ingrained in them from middle school through high school.

Quite the opposite. We seem to get injured when we do manage to make a tackle. Chris Brown was rhe only guy that seemed to know how to tackle and he is now injured amd out.
