I don't think anyone disputes Trump's impulsiveness. He is very impulsive and that leads to missteps and more work to clean up messes than there should be.

In his defense (bleh), he had to execute this order quickly before DOD officials could counteract it.

It's too complicated to outline here so I'll post this link. I understand your desire to paint this as an Assad vs ISIS war given your world view but the reality is much more complex as demonstrated by a 3rd party, the SDF, currently holding 60k ISIS fighters and their families.

I'll readily admit that Al-Nusra is a group with links to radical ideology byt they were merely a subset of the Free Syrian Army that initially opposed Assad.

Just announced. Turkey agree to a 120 hour cease while US withdraws YPG forces from safe zone
Once withdrawal is complete the cease fire will be permanent.

"Peace Spring" and "Ceasefire" is semantics.

Lol @ "PKK/YPG". If YPG evacuates hundreds of thousands of people from the border where do they go? That's effectively giving up the land they fought hard for.

Impulsive? Trump has wanted to pull out for 3 years. This is BS criticism. Also, what military person wants to be pulled out of a fight? This is how they should behave. They weren’t elected though and we have civilian leadership.

Trump has been trying to pull out for 3 years, working with Europe, etc. The decision was not impulsive. The execution may be, but not the decision.

Sorry, but the consensus is “impulsive”.

    Longest horn,

Your two most recent posts contain tweets that are now 10 days old. A change or two has happened since then.

I can want something to occurr for eternity but not plan tactically to make it happen. Announcing the decision without planning for the outcome is the definition "impulsive".

He announced the decision without coordination of the military. They reportedly learned of their removal via Twitter. Yeah...impulsive is the perfect description.

Lots of deaths, including the summary execution some of YPG leaders by Turkey backed militia. Is that what you are referencing?

And bogus video from abc containing old attacks... You know, to justify the hysteria you buy into.

Oh... And there's the cease fire thing. That too.

Yes. 240 hours have elapsed since POTUS impulsively decided to roll over for Turkey.

A cease fire that was in place BEFORE Trump decided to acquiesce to Erdogan and extricate US forces. You mean that one?

Hey, we only had to remove ~50 soldiers, hurriedly blowup our bases, witness the escape of ~100 ISIS soldiers and ~500 family members, and the widescale slaughter of an ally that was hugely responsible for defeating ISIS.

But, we have a Ceasefire NOW! That isca good thing but celebrating a solution to a self inflicted wound is a bit like self flagellation don't you think?

Have any older tweets you care to share? If Twitter went back to 1970 I'm sure you'd be reporting on the Kent state killings. Carry on

Suppose I did. Would the Kent State killings still be killings, or would enough time have elapsed to change that specific outcome?

No forethought? He has been thinking about this for 3 years.

Did you miss having a plan? Unless you think his "strategic brilliance" (Trump quote) was to throw the grenade then walk away.

Conversely he doesn’t want entanglements that don’t serve America’s interest.

Are you a mind reader? Maybe he didn’t care about the consequences considering there were no good options regarding pulling out.

Ok. Let's assume that he planned to bend over and alert Erdogan the US was leaving before his own administration was aware then announce it on twitter leaving our military to scramble for safety while the Kurds get slaughtered. Heck, we had to blow up our own ammunition depot because we couldn't move it out befor the Turks or Soviets arrived. If Trump didn't care about those consequences then he's a worse person than I gave him credit.

Then, Pence can swoop in days later to negotiate a deal that Turkey offered in January.

That's acceptable execution of foreign policy?

I’m sure we are getting a fair picture of events from the people who wanted to stay in Syria forever.

That's a copout. Yes everyone certainly has a bias but this situation has played out in real-time with quotes abound. We have a very rich dataset and timeline to make an informed analysis of the situation, moreso than nearly any military conflict in history at this point in the conflict.
