While Herman recruited Ehlinger at Houston, he did retain him at UT. Perhaps you should pay more attention to the QB room and our QB recruits. By the way, one of them holds a few OK High School QB records. If you are implying that Ehlinger is not elite, you have missed the last 4 Texas-OU games for sure and are also unaware of the B12 statistical record books last year and to date this year.

So far for OU, they had 4 Heisman winning QBs and no NC with any of them. Only Bradford has even played in an NC game that I remember. So a good elite QB may be necessary to win an NC, but it is not sufficient in and of itself. See the next response.

Herman coached a 3rd string QB who did not play the whole season until he started in the playoffs to a NC over Alabama.

Now you were saying .....? Oh right, a good QB is necessary. Checked 5 times next Spring for Texas.

why wouldn't you count 2016 and 2017 since that's who is playing most of the snaps for both teams. If 19 and 20 year olds are playing 21-23 year olds, doesn't it stand to reason that second team might be a smidge better? Considering equal rankings of recruits?

First off Sam isn’t elite , every nfl scout on the planet will confirm that for you in the spring 2021.
I love the guy , seems like a great person .... but he’s a poor mans Tim Tebow ...if that means much .
Second , I never said elite qbs alone could win national championships.
No fan base in the country knows that more than a ou fan.
Those qbs that you down played so much because of their shortcomings with a NC would have walked away with two in a row if they had an elite defense as well .
Bama, Clemson , OSU are always going to have great defenses .
Now they have put elite playmakers at an and the qb position combined with a pass happy offense .
That OSU team with Herman wouldnt make it out of the first round today .

In closing O have no doubt your current rb, or an ou legacy who didn’t get an offer will run Herman offense to a tee .
    Just like Sam does .
Not one of them could get on the field at Oklahoma , none of them even had an ou offer .
Thays my whole point and you made it for me . Herman doesn’t recruit elite qbs , he recruits solid athletes and puts them at qb.
They can’t make all the throws , but they aren’t asked to .
Just like Smart , or Urban .
    Different philosophies .

Problem is the current top 5 teams in college football have the exact opposite theory ..... them being top 5 isn’t by coincidence .

Times have changed , in just a short time .

Sam's not elite just a gamer like Tebow (like you said). However, his "rib thing" that Herman refers to at times was obvious (to me) in the OU game. Sam's running timidly compared to how he normally runs because he's obviously hampered by the rib injury. Last year he just kept running OU over and would've done it this year as well. But, that's the chance you take when you have a Sam at quarterback, all or nothing (or not as much). Similar to BJ Foster. You get that guy to stop blasting dudes and you take away his whole persona. I think in Tom's 4th or 5th year, his recruiting (as long as we keep winning most of our games) will get Texas more even with OU and then you'll see some real battles. Hope Lincoln hangs around and doesn't go to the Cowboys. At 7.5 million, it'll probably take a good round $10 million per to get him to bolt. I want to see a couple of decades of Herman vs Riley (sort of like Royal vs Broyles). Good luck to the Sooners in the rest of their games (until, hopefully, the CCG). Hook 'em!

Yeah, poor guy who is eclipsing Vince Young and Colt McCoy records. Of course they not only beat OU, but also played in two NCG winning one. How long has it been for OU again? Now, Rhett Bomar, he was a real elite QB! We will ignore until later how Tebow schooled Bradford.

So we have established that you have a difficult time with real facts, Very common in the meth patch that is OK.

Actually, very few Heisman QB have won NCG, but Tebow showed Bradford how it was done. So much for not being "elite."

So you think "woulda, coulda, shoulda" is a intellectually sound argument? Opinions are only as good as the facts behind them. Rather like your argument that Ehlinger is not an elite college quarterback. Moving on .....

Well, D'Eriq King is the only QB is the only QB I know for certain that Herman recruited, I would say he is pretty good for a second level Group of 5 QB. We will wai probably another year to see the first QB that Herman recruited specifically for Texas. But of coourse those OK QB pretty much suck which is why OU has to come to Texas to find a good one.

And precisely what is that theory? It seems lost in all the ramblings.

Yeah, OU cannot recruit South, East or West of DFW very well. Is that news to you?

Good luck in grasping future facts and good luck finding a good logics course in OK. "Woulda, coulda, shoulda" just does not cut it in this part of the world.

Dude, get off our site with this BS

Riddle me this, you are filled to the top with Elite QBs yet why can't you win a playoff game? Maybe because your BS is as flawed as the tooth in your mouth. I'd rather go to war with Sam Ehlinger than any of your elite qbs. Everyone knows outside of the big 12 you can't win crap without the help of the big 12 refs. That is why you don't play anyone in non-conference. Your team coasts on cup cakes and rides the Big 12 refs to an undefeated season.

Without the protection of the Big 12, your team wouldn't beat Texas again.

I tell you how the elite schools qb philosophy has completely changed the last 3 years and you bring up a Ou qb from
15 years ago in Rhett Bomar ?
talk about random suppressed longhorn butt hurt .....does it really still bother you he and Peterson spurned Texas and went to OU?
BTW he made a nfl squad no less after an ACL year and being developed at offensive juggernaut Sam Houston State.
Riley would make him a early round pick ,would have been a PERFECT fit in his system .
Rattler actually reminds me a lot of him .

Also if King in the 2020 class is the first QB you know of that Herman has recruited , who recruited the qbs in his first 2 classes ....a trainer ?
Lastly you say ou cant recruit very well south of DFW , I guess you missed the two BEST players in the field for either team Lamb and Murray both from the Houston area .
Not to mention the winning qb who put up almost 400 yards from Houston area as well

Florida State, Miami , Alabama, Ohio State , Oregon , Tennessee, Notre Dame these are some of the programs our Ad has scheduled in our out of conference games the last 15 years .
We will play anyone anywhere, I honestly don’t know another program in the country that has played a tougher out of conference schedule the last 15 years.
Ironically since you bring it up ,scheduling has been the difference in getting to play national championship games vs a team like yourself when wen went over you in 2008 ....thanks again Joe C. I know that one still stings for Longhorns like yourself .
The funny thing is that we also scheduled LSU like 8 years ago but they backed out and picked up Texas ..... guess they thought it was easier draw.Im not kidding , I’m serous about LSU thing .

Lastly , everyone knows the reason ou has came up empty the last two years is HORRIBLE defensive play.
It hurts but seeing all those big 12 championships trophies and heismans does take a lot of the sting out .

It sucks getting so close but not having a complete team is our downfall .
I guess having the deed to the Big12 in our back pocket is still a great accomplishment , straight up ownership .

I'll tell you like I told Bob & Bobby Jack when Bomar committed, "Congratulations, you just got you a cancer that MD Anderson couldn't cure. Bomar will be the second coming of Jeff George except Bomar doesn't have the same kind of mother".

Riley would have put up with Bomar & his father for about 15 minutes.

So anyone "butt hurt" over Bomar choosing Mobilehoma should definitely be wearing paperclip clothing.

Now this is a board for discussing 2020 University of Texas recruiting. Anybody with something constructive to contribute, please do. Otherwise, shut the f**k up and take the cheap ******** rhetoric elsewhere.

He handled Mayfield just fine .Not to mention Kyler who was already a millionaire and his father .All he did was turn them both into Heisman winners and the number 1 picks on the draft .
Riley is the qb whisperer , that’s why ou is currently QBU.
Again Bomar would have been a star in this offense , he made a nfl team which is more than Sam will do next year .

That has not one damn thing to do with what I posted. If you don't know the differences in Mayfield, Kyler and Bomar, then you don't know **** about your program. I said that Linc would put up with Bomar for about 15 minutes, then send his *** somewhere outside of Cleveland County.

FWIW, I have no problem with the Murray clan. I had no problem with Mayfield leaving Tech under the circumstances. Any respect I had for him, I lost with the ensuing transfer (not Mayfield's)

It has everything to do with what you are posting .
You are assuming Riley couldn’t handle the Bomars , again I can assure you Bomar wasnt the first and won’t be the last pre
    Madonna Qb at ou .
Elite qbs are always high maintenance, that never changes .
A&M said the same thing about the Murray’s , because Sumlin couldn’t handle them .
Sumlin could take care of himself mush less maybe the best an in Texas high school history .
Same with Mayfield , tech fans said he was a cancer .
Stoops is much more thinned skin then Lincoln , I can promise you that .
Great coaches can handle many situations other coaches couldn’t even attempt to.

Obviously Bomar was not near the head case you make him out to be .
All he did was go from being the starting qb and future star on a top 5 program to playing at one of the worst programs in the NCAA . Tears his ACL , rehabs , keeping
working and is drafted and made a team .

    1) You don't have a clue why Mayfield left The High Plains. Of the thousands of Tech people I know, not one ever considered him "a cancer". Did any consider Brewer "a cancer" since he left over the Mayfield "situation"?

    2) Kyler left because Sumlin LIED to him and his family just like he did to other QBs and players.

    3) You can continue to babble all you want, but you obviously don't know **** about Bomar.

At that, once again I shall invite you to take your overwhelming ignorance and leave for the Midwest City HS board.

I was wondering if you were a troll or just a dolt and now at least one of these is confirmed.

If you want to participate in this forum you can, but if you just want to talk **** and be an OU homer you’re done here.
