Schedule released. With the medical retirement of Blair Westerlund, I expect the next big news to be some sort of transfer announcement.

Murderers' row !!!!!!! We find out really quick if we are worth a darn. WOW....Lets hope Elliott has a back row that can dig and pass this season, and has someone teaching the players to serve. That has been our downfall the last few years now...Getting to be an ugly habit ( poor passing and serving ). Gotta get that fixed. I heard that is one reason why we lost the hitter to Nebraska.

If Lexi had waited for Jhenna it wouldn't have been an issue.

He has a point! Opening the season with UNI (RV) Friday, #14 USC Sunday and #3 Minnesota a week from Wednesday brings some really high level volleyball to Gregory. Unbelievably, they still have bench reserved seats available for UNI and Minnesota. GA seats are all that remain still for USC.

FYI...last year a secondary market started to form on Stub Hub. If you want chairback reserved I'd check there.

Me too, they seem very cohesive and resilient for such a young team. Can't wait to watch them continue to grow!

We do look better than last year. A few of them need to get their serving down, and back row play is still an issue. We do a lot of diving and rolling on the floor well after the ball is down...Did well taking #1 to the brink. Anxious to see if we are better after Butler returns. Wish our libero would hang back a little more when we attack/block at the net. We leave too much of the floor wide open.

Let all their hard work beating top teams and playing #1 to the limit building a resume for the NCAA committee go down the toilet by losing to Rice...RICE !!!!! SMDH......

According to coach Elliott brionne butler will play in limited action this Wednesday or Saturday. She will be limited in action to see how her leg responds to live action. She also participated in practice today & got reps in. So everyone hope she feels good and is ready to go

Good to see Butler is back...VB is so much about timing and meshing together. ( chemistry )...May take a while for the team to get back into a groove with Butler in the line up. Our serving is still meh.....15+ errors per match, and our back row play is not any better than last year. Just don't have the talent there we have up front on the net.

Baylor looks for real.... UCLA is pretty good..watched them beat USC, and Baylor spanked UCLA in 3 sets. Match vs Baylor will be interesting. If Baylor can rise up and challenge Texas in volleyball, then Karen Aston needs to step up her game in basketball and start challenging Kim.

The coach previously coached at a smaller religious university. He's recruited very well and obviously can coach. The last few years, we've been lucky that when we met Baylor they had one or two players either injured or under the weather. It's going to be a touch series this year. Winner will win the Big 12.

Like I said... If Baylor can play with us or beat us in volleyball, then Aston better step up her game and knock Kim off her pedestal in basketball .....

That's what im saying. No reason Texas should be dominated by Baylor so badly. I do think this year will be different because when Texas plays Baylor it's been about stopping kalani brown so now she is gone so I think Texas can beat Baylor at least once this year I think this season will be a good one though because Texas has amazing leadership, experience, and depth also the return of lashann Higgs is going to help tremendously so I have faith this year Texas is going to be much better than last season. At least a sweet 16 appearance

Has anyone heard of any 2021 volleyball commits??? I know some 2020 commits committed in 2018 but I have not heard any news at all of any 2021 commits or prospects

Nope. Jerritt mentioned in his pre-game Q/A that they had lost out on some 2021 prospects recently. A thread on VolleyTalk discusses UT recruiting.

Scholarship count is also important in respect to how many they can look for:

    2019:
    11 scholarships - White(S), Gabriel, Fisbeck, Fields, O'Neal, Petersen, Shook(J), Butler, Phillips, Eggleston, Agbagi(S)
    2 walk-ons - Hahn(S), Rounsaville(S)
    1 open scholarship

    2020:
    12 scholarships - Gabriel(J), Fields, O'Neal, Petersen(J), Shook(S), Butler(J), Phillips, Eggleston(J), Cabello, Williams, Parra, Iosia
    1 walk-on - Heinrich (guess)

    2021:
    11 scholarships - Gabriel(S), Fields(J), O'Neal(J), Petersen(S), Butler(S), Phillips(J), Eggleston(S), Cabello, Williams, Parra, Iosia
    1 walk-on - Heinrich
    1 open scholarship

    2022:
    5 scholarships (at present)

Baylor beat Oklahoma last night in 5 sets, 15-12 in fifth. I watched a little and hard to pull for the land thieves. So Baylor is 18-1 and that is good for us. Especially if the Horns beat Baylor a second time. Pressley had 72 attacks.......WOW ! Also 12 hitting errors. She is a special player but I wonder if Baylor can keep winning when so much of their offense is through one player.

Super excited for this week's rematch with Baylor. Hoping all the ladies are healthy and that Eggleston has a strong serve game, unlike last night. I anticipate this match being much closer than the one in Austin. Let's go Texas! :hookem:

Parra has arrived in Austin much earlier than I think everyone expected but no complaints from me. Im glad she came to austin early this way she can go to the matches and get to know everyone and see Texas play in person. Also she gets to play spring ball with the team which is an even bigger plus. So as of now her and cabello are the freshman who are coming in early!

Unsure of this. My take is that she's going to go HS for one semester to get her transcript right for NCAA clearinghouse or for UT admissions? That's all a guess.
