Injuries and Iowa State on the road

Bad combination. We clearly benefitted from getting some guys back on D against KSt. On the other hand, recent injuries on O are concerning as we head down the stretch. Losing Cade Brewer hurt badly. And while our O-like could sustain losing Angilau, and even Shak, losing both would be crippling. Do we have clues yet re: the status of either or both?

Losing Green for the first half of Iowa St won’t help, but it was more than deserved

So far, losing our P hasn’t cost us.

The Horns' season has been stymied primarily by injuries this year and even though we have brought in talented players their lack of experience has shown. This may have been the gods of football getting the younger guys the experience they need and building a true 2 deep experienced roster. That doesn't excuse the subpar production we've seen on the field nor the questionable coaching decisions, both tactical and strategic, but hopefully, this season will stick in the minds and the players and coaches going forward and translate into better effort and results in the future.

Leitao and Wiley not looking very sharp at TE. Leitao should be doing much better at his assignments as he's been in the program 3 years now.

Wiley had trouble lining up a few times as did Leitao.

Agree completely. I’m especially disappointed in RL.

ISU damn near upset ou in Norman last eve. Lost 42-41 and missed 2 point conversion at the end trying to win it.

I believe the Horns are going to be in a war in Ames next Sat. Buckle up kids....

Yes, but KSU actually beat OU. If we get healthier next week, I like our chances.

Ask LSU who their toughest opponents have been thus far. I like being in that company.

I'll give the ISU HC props for going for the win and not OT. That took guts and obviously the guts to decide to win it during regulation. Since he took over the ISU program, they are a lot more competitive, and no longer a mere practice game and an automatic W on opponents schedules.

    Is it possible....
    Just possible....
...that the Big 12 is the best conference TOP to BOTTOM, in the country?

I was thinking about this last night. No doubt the SEC is stronger at the top, as is, apparently, the Big 10, but with the Big 12 this year, there are no gimmies. No weeks off. I also believe that the way LSU handled Alabama last night says something about Texas. It would be hard to argue that LSU’s toughest game this year wasn't against us.

Us or Auburn. But it’s only a moral victory. I hoped we could play them again in the CFP......I guess not. Have to wait until next September.

If Sam avoids another TCU like performance, I think we sneak out the win.

Eagles really hurt us against TCU by being out of the lineup

Green really ought to be out the whole game, not just the first half.

True but KSU got them at home.

Eagles is now listed as questionable vs ISU for personal reasons. I'd sure like to know what's going on. Maybe it's none of our business, but having to trot Epps out there is really going to hurt. Dammit Moore, why did you have to go be stupid!!

I believe Epps can catch the ball well enough, he just has difficulty getting open. Personally I like the Edelman types, those that can get open and get yac. Have one Tall receiver and the rest scat backs. Being down on Epps I'd rather see one of his backups play.

    What the hell!!

Also, where is Jake Smith. I don't like what is happening in the WR room.

Epps has decent hands. IMHO, he needs to be coached to use his superior size and physical strength to box out DBs better, and to do more and better quasi-legal Michael Irvin style (non-blatant) push offs to get separation.

Run this dude frequently on 10-15 yard button hooks and comebacks (and short out patterns to move the chains) with coaching on boxing out the coverage man. Install some jump ball plays for him at the goalline. Use his advantages.

    This ^^^^

Epps is strong, has superior size, good hands, speed, good YAC at WR - but he does seem to struggle to get open. Perhaps coaching & experience will help him get better...

Whatever is troubling the young man, let's hope and pray it is resolved soon with a good outcome. It very well could be something totally unrelated to football.

The middle and lower end of the Big 12 is probably the best middle and lower end of any conference in the country.

Name another better conference, then. Even Kansas is making strides under Miles. WVU and TTU are hurting but TTU still dangerous if ignored.

Jake had a whole lot thrown at him early. The coaches backed off so he could spend some more time learning for now. His mistakes were mental. He will return better than before.

I hope Eagles can resolve whatever personal issues he is facing. He is a good guy and should be enjoying his time at UT as he prepares for his future. I think he has the character to overcome his personal issues.

In today's presser, TH said Colin tweaked his hamstring again. Different area of the muscle and not as bad as last time. They will treat it aggressively, but damn we need Brennan!
