    We didn’t quit.

Credit is due to the staff for making good halftime and in-game adjustments.

Credit is due to the team for gutting it out in the fourth quarter.

I am not disagreeing with the negativity on this thread. The game started horribly and after a good comeback, we made stupid mistakes that could have cost us the game.

HOWEVER, our defense gave up 3 points after the first quarter. With all that has happened this year, that is amazing to me. Congrats to the defense. to TO, to TH, or to whoever had a part in that. That is the story of this game.

EasternHorn, You are right. The defense does deserve props for their effort. If we are going to rip Orlando when he screws up, its only right to give him pats on the back for doing a good job... Defense .... Giddy-Up !!!

Don’t take this post too seriously...

    Re: Green

Here’s the best defense I can come up with for him today—He didn’t do anything College Football Hall of Famer Jack Tatum wouldn’t have done. :yikes::yikes::yikes:

Oh yeah, and nobody calls UT “soft” anymore. :rolleyes1:

There are hundreds of players who have made hits like that, and worse. That, sadly, is part of the history of football. The rules have been changed to protect players, and thank god for that.

It was a horrible, cheap, and dangerous shot. And Green was rightfully ejected. He will be automatically not allowed to play in the first half of the next game. TH has the option to suspend him further.

The most important thing for Green now is to learn from this mistake. I am not trying to minimize the violence and potential harm in that hit. I'm advocating that TH do his job and teach. Teach Green how to channel his aggression (and believe me, coaches gin up aggression, anger and violence to prepare players for the fight that is a football game) and use it fairly, and productively in the coarse of the game.

Greetings my fellow HornFans ... able to dodge the Austin traffic and return home. Kids are down ... dogs fed, crated ... cattle cubed ... gatos fed too! ... wifee prepping tomorrow AM's feast.

forgive me ... haven't read through the thread. Jumpin in cold.

Dicker ... for the second time this season! But ... 1/G and we are downing the ball to run the clock at 1:30 ???

Just how little confidence do we have in the defense??? Granted, spotting them the ball at the 35 after that buffoonery in the previous KO ... not a great prospect ... but it's 90" ... you can't hold K State for 90" to win the game????

Glad the Horns proved me wrong. The first time this year I haven't picked 'em.

Funny, coach TO looks good when he has healthy players. That said, Defense played lights out when in press coverage. Hope we stay aggressive!

OH ... I failed to note how much more effective our defense played when we had 4 men on the LOS ... at least 3 in a 3pt stance. And how terrible it was when we had only 3 linemen on the LOS.

Still blitzing out of the zone coverage with no chance to pressure the QB. SMH!

Yea, we didn't play the same scheme. We played 4 down more than 1/2 the time and when we blitzed it was with 1 guy not 2. Remember the tipped ball when we dropped into coverage? WR was wide open if he doesn't make that play. Last several games we're blitzing both guys and vacating that spot. Having starters back helped for sure, but changing what we do did as well.

I noticed Roach upright a few times with that 4 man alignment and it seemed to improve his rushing - at least the time I saw him up and watched him.

I thought Roach had a really good game. Defense was pretty much lights out the last 3 quarters, only allowing a field goal. They deserve a lot of credit.

Iowa St is a lot better than KSU
    Their losses include --
    1 point to #9 ou
    1 point to #18 Iowa
    2 points to #11 Baylor
The same effort from us in that game will be a loss for us

Anyone can beat anyone in this league. We are better than Iowa St. as a concept. But they can kick our *** if we take them lightly.

    I went to the game,
Congrats to Texas, after getting down , we adjusted on defense and kept playing hard. I thought TO's idea at the end was smart.
The run defense forced them to throw. The pressure was there. When in press coverage we did better.
Assuming everyone wins out...If OU loses to Baylor they get to play Baylor again.

What I liked about our offense yesterday is that we ran the ball over 30 times ,and of the 29 pass attempts 20 were to Collin, Devin, and Ingram

Whipping around to everyone else has not been efficient.

When things are on the line, you gotta feed the big boys.

We're gonna have to bring our offensive A game against ISU. As good as yesterday seemed defensively we still gave up big passing yards to a team ranked around 112th in passing offense. We did stuff their run completely, but I don't think ISU will play around with much running the ball.

Next week we'll see if the defense can continue to make progress. I sure hope so!

    Is 253 yards that much?

Considering the 70 yard pass in the first series, they threw for 180 yards the other 56 minutes of the game.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

I listened to the ou - ISU game on the radio driving back after the game. Clones on the road never gave up, kept battling and damn near beat ou - lost 42-41 by missing 2 point conversion at the end. Scary. If ISU had not dug such a big hole the first half, they probably would have won.

Suspect Horns are going to be in a war next Sat. in Ames. They better be ready!!

Well I thought sure KSU was going to beat us. That was a pleasant surprise. Did Orlando stumble onto something? Or did the injured players coming back help the most?
I am certain that ISU is going to beat us. Purdy is a better QB. I still don't respect Orlando. Too stubborn. He did make adjustments at halftime however. Maybe he learning to be more flexible In his thinking. Him and Herman are two peas in a pod. Maybe we should give Morris a try. Wouldn't bother me. :smokin:

It's not, especially compared to other gawdy Big XII numbers. They average only 180 passing yards per game so they don't really even hardly try to throw the ball. So, while they didn't throw for 350-400 yds, it is a big game for them.

Well, there's probably only 3 or 4 days a year that they play on the same day. Then, there would have to be the circumstance that both of the opponents would be ranked. BB season is after the OU game. How often during the whole SWC years was a normal football conference opponent ranked? Same with SWC basketball opponents--maybe Arkansas or UH. Then, you add in the idea that if you are playing those ranked teams, there is a far better chance that one of the two games is a loss.

So, it's not as crazy as it sounds, but I admit it is odd that this is the first time.

Morris is an offensive guy, not defense. Orlando went 4 down a lot and stunted some as well as more sensible blitzes vs KSU. He also brought corners up to play WRs closer at times....If he does that against ISU, we have a chance. If he goes back to the crap he did vs TCU and OU we will lose to ISU for sure.
