Worse every week

It makes me sick to think that as much money and resources Texas has, we are regressing every week.

Meanwhile, recruits are decommitting and players are asking to transfer.

Tom Herman has some decisions to make. Replacing his coordinators needs to be the first one he makes.

The careless penalties and lack of basic game discipline is absurd. I wonder if Mensa even sees the same performance that we do. He should be humiliated to cash huge paychecks at THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS and allow this product to take the field.

This may be as good as we ever get under Tom Herman.

I actually didn’t think the lack of discipline could get any worse than what David McWilliams teams exhibited. I stand corrected

Need to give Tom a bag of "double bubble" and let him pace the sidelines somewhere else. Couldn't put up one 1st down on our last possession. Out-coached Out-played in every facet of the game. Name one coach that did a good job today. Curious as to how the last penalty could happen? Unforgivable!

I actually like Herman. However, his record in one possession games is abysmal. Some coaches have "it'', some don't.

Maybe he would be if he actually had to go TO the bank to cash them...I am guessing he is mandated to do direct deposit like other State employees. So, as a result, no walk of shame is ever enforced upon him...

Given the resources and talent recruited year-in, year-out, what we are getting is utterly inexcusable. Texas has for awhile now been regarded as a pathetic giant. And each week we play to that.

    It’s embarrassing.

Honestly If he just kicks a few field goals in the first half of most of his loses, he has a much better record. You would think being the stats guy he is he would change. Pride and arrogance are his downfall right now. Happens to many of us.

We played better today and last week than we did against KU and TCU. Not well enough, obviously, but overall I don't think the assessment is correct. The OL does seem to regress every week though. It's a shell of what it was against LSU and Okie State.

I totally disagree. Iowa St is good. The average fan really can’t comprehend that. Just ask average fan IN Norman last week, they’re a fingernail away from losing to the Cyclones in Norman at night.
Ohio St won their last ring (only one under Urban) they lost at home to a lowly Virginia Tech.
It’s college football. It’s highs and lows.
I see several key players in huge spots making plays that are freshman and sophomores.
It is embarrassing, that fans who pay “money” expect a perfect product on the field.
    Learn some history.
Look up Texas last national championship. Google Vince Young Lawrence Kansas on 4th down.
    We’re 1 recruit away from a ring.
Just ask the current #1 team.

    When did I say I expect a perfect product? I didn’t.

But by ******* damn, I expect to see improvement — at least SOME improvement — every week. I don’t expect to see us lose to teams with less talent and fewer resources.

And BTW, I was in Lawrence in 2004. Fourth-and-18 was right in front of me. I am familiar with plenty of Longhorn history, given that I started attending games when I was a baby ... in 1957.

On the one possession games, I think you're wrong. How many games alone has Dicker won for us on the last drive? Usually when we lose we lose by 10, or score late like against LSU/OU to cut it to a single score

CDC needs to step up, too.

He can't keep asking for money and allow this embarrassment.

You act like we've lost 1 game this year. We're 6-4 and likely 7-5. That's not 1 player away. That's crap for a school with the resources we have. 7-5 puts your coach on the hot seat. 2 of those gets you fired. I do believe Herman will get one more year, but he better replace TO and take over play calling from TB. We don't expect perfection, but 6-4 is not close to perfection. It's mid tier in a mid tier conference. That's pathetic for where we should be.

I know one area where we are not regressing and that is practice. I didn't hear the presser before the game but I am willing to put it out there and say TH said, "we had a GREAT week of practice."

I doubt anyone is demanding perfection, but Texas’ resources and recruiting reach should net more. Holding on for dear life at home v KU, getting dropped by TCU with a freshman QB - and the Frog offense was all but dormant before Texas hit Fort Worth.

And the way Texas finished this one today at Ames? Forgive me for expecting better than that three-play give-up on our final possession. Only to be trumped by our special teams falling for another banana-in-the-tailpipe maneuver to kill all hopes. Talk about gross unpreparedness!

See, I can understand LSU handling this team early. The OU loss, while unsettling, is understandable on some level. But thank the heavens we were good enough to bang through a FG at the gun to knock off Kansas at DKR. Otherwise this is literally a .500 team with a QB the likes of Ehlinger, which is amazing to me.

Sorry, there is some rotten here and they are a ways away from competing on a national level.

Everyone is pissed right now just like after TCU. I agree that play calling and bad decisions cost THIS game. Start kicking field goals on 4th down inside the 35! Play call’s that repeat what the defense cannot stop in the game are your best chance. TH MUST adjust and learn from mistakes. Give him tome to do that.

However, we CAN beat Baylor. Just have to improve and build on what we learned today.

Herman isn't it. He has to go. Sooner than later. Once you prove you aren't it, get the next one in.

The loss of CJ this week and Brewer has really hurt Sam. He only has #6, cannot spell his name, he can go to on 3rd. I also believe that if Ingram and been in at running back on on one possession Ingram might have scored. Johnson ran up the back of his blocker instead of cutting inside of what was huge hole. Then he fell down on a screen that would have gone for a big gain.

Still, the decision to go conservative on our last position resulted in what I knew would happen, We should have played like we were down 3

But you know, if frogs had wings........

Every team not named Texas deals with losing players. OU beat Baylor without CD Lamb. Wah! Texas only had twice the talent of ISU and not three times. I feel so sorry for Sam.

Why do you feel sorry for Sam ? He had so darn many terrible throws today I lost count. He is probably part of the reason Herman's offense is so freaking vanilla.

I don't. I was being sarcastic. Texas fans are pansies blaming injuries and bad weather on bad performance.

I know many will disagree, but Texas wins this game easily with Shane at QB. Sam's accuracy has been way off lately and Shane has one of the most accurate deep balls I've ever seen. He's right on the $ every pass.

Shane gets sacked 10+ times yesterday. Sam is not the problem. The OL is weak. No running game means Sam has to be perfect every week.

I agreed with BOTH of you. Shane could have won this game. but not with Tim Beck / Tom Herman calling plays. Tim Beck called offense might win here with Lamar Jackson.

It is odd that every year we supposedly get top 10 recruiting classes and yet schools like ISU, TCU, Baylor, and Okla. St., who are lucky to be in the top 30 recruiting-wise, seem to have every bit as much talent on the field as we do.

I think part of the answer is that the rankings are mostly BS and give us an overblown opinion of how talented we are. The other part is the talent just doesn’t develop for whatever reason: injuries (Whittington, Kirk Johnson), poor coaching, etc.

But the part the coaches can control is discipline on the field and that’s where Herman & sons are criminally liable. Watch Army play. They get less penalties the whole game than we got on the last ISU drive.
