"Hats off to Iowa State and their atmosphere and the way they played tonight. It's a really really neat college football atmosphere."

Is this guys serious? Ames, a really really neat college football atmosphere? 55,000 seat Trice Stadium?

Is he posturing to replace Campbell when he moves on or something?

Pathetic comments from the Texas head coach.

Herman is channeling the worst of Mack Brown. Kick him to the curb and get a real coach.

The only team of note that Herman beat while at ISU was Texas in 2010 during that diarrhea of a season. So impressive.

They already have a head coach that is three times the HC Tim Herman is. Not sure what good Tom would be to Iowa State in any capacity. Urine Color Analyst?

As a Tom Herman fan, I'm extremely disappointed that, after a Texas victory, the next day the post game presser is on youtube, but, after a loss (especially to ones like TCU and Iowa State), there's nothing to be found....

Think they should be out there win or lose.....but, could be ignorant and believe that somehow UT dictates that possibility....

When Herman talked about our situation of "being on the ropes" he said there were three things that could happen.
    1) Do nothing and hope the guy stops punching you.
    2) Throw in the towel.
    3) Start swinging and fight your way off.
    He left out number four........
    4) Get knocked out.
Which is what ISU's defense did to us.

I wish the press would ask him some really tough questions instead of the fluff balls they lob at him.

The Audacity of this Joker. Any coach worth his salt would have surely said “Ames Sux, the Weather Sux, their cheerleaders Suck and so do their Fans”. I am sure we will get that from Stoops or U Meyer or Saban when one of those 3 is the next coach of our beloved 40 acres.

A simple, "Hats off to Iowa State, they played a great game etc etc..." would do just fine. I expect him to be gracious. He was falling all over himself like he was interviewing for a job.

The "overanalyze every single thing our head coach says after a loss and twist them to be a secret key indicator of exactly what's wrong with the program" tendency of this board is reaching ludicrous new heights.

    I believe a HC that lost a game like our game against ISU would have more respect from at least myself if he came out and said;

"As you saw, today (or tonight) we were out played by our opponent, and lost the game. Questions..."

Tom goes into too much touchy, feely, ********, then stutters and stammers through the rest. Usually starting with the old "Winning is hard." To that I say, "It's harder if you're stupid."

The biggest, most glaring and costly error was the offsides call on ISU's FG which missed. Following the penalty a later, and shorter, FG was good after they ran off more time. That penalty was inexcusable especially at that critical point in the game. But, it is what it is, and we are where we are.

“What a college football game. Great atmosphere. Winning is hard. We won’t change the way we do things around here. Loved our energy. The sun will come up tomorrow.” - Tom Herman in an hour or so.

Saban - we had our shot and flubbed it.

Meyer - Highly doubtful, potential backlash?

Stoops - Highly doubtful, looks like he's going to FSU

Right now CDC is probably shaking and scratching his head. But he probably has a plan in place if this thing goes completely south.

The offsides took me back to 2001 CCG where Major had lead us all the way back and we got the stop. I knew we'd score, but Mack has the punt block on and we ruff the punter. 15 yds gives them the FG and we do go down and score, but still lose. Without the punt block we were winning the conference and playing Miami for the NC. Not sure I've ever been more pissed. This was just as bone headed stupid, just the stakes weren't as high. I just hate stupid. I hate things you can totally control. Just don't jump offsides. It's not that complicated. It wasn't even a hard count.

From 247 Article on ISU Game:

    REASON TO BE PESSIMISTIC

"The Longhorns beat themselves. Period. Even though Texas has gained a reputation under Herman of being a team that won’t give up and will fight until the bitter end, the offensive performance (or lack thereof) until late in the third quarter (specifically, rushing for a woeful 54 yards on 26 carries), the numerous dropped passes, penalties (six for 55 yards) and the (albeit a few) defensive lapses added up to Texas not doing enough to be able to come home with a win."

"These aren’t signs of a team going through a rough patch. The issues are becoming systemic because they keep popping up repeatedly."

65, they probably don’t dare for fear of being ostracized. You can tell that he doesn’t like some of them, like Bohls, who has been (IMO) justifiably critical, and doesn’t like questions from him.

My take on the presser (which I just saw) is one of sympathy. Herman was obviously shaken and at a loss to explain it. He didn’t hold back when observing that the offensive performance was terrible, and the lack of a running game, inexcusable. What’s very troubling is that we are seeing a consistent pattern of poor performances which begs the question, does Herman know how to fix the problems. As of now, the answer is clearly “no.”

He was without words....the wheels have come off and he has no clues....he looks to DATA to come up with what to do....well, DATA only gets you so far...the BS about "if we run the ball so many times, WE WIN!!!" well, you need to gain yardage and make first downs and score touchdowns to WIN....not just RUN on so many plays....

It’s all just more of the same **** we saw under Strong.

All the “culture change” bull crap off the field and during offseason followed by undisciplined sloppy football on the field.

If The defense shows up, the offense shits the bed. If the offense shows up the defense shits the bed. Sometimes they both **** the bed in the same day or they flip the script at halftime. But they never both show up to play a 4 qtr football game on the same day.
And the special teams consistently **** the bed. Every week.

It sounds like I am mad at the players but this is on the coaches. This happens every week. It’s the culture that Herman has failed to change. They are not doing their homework during the off-season and as a result they are going from week to week putting out new fires instead of getting better at anything we do.

That may be true for you in particular, but 15-20 years of hornfans history strongly suggests that in general, it doesn't matter at all what our coach says after a loss.
