describing how they look at things and the amount of time spent getting "numbers" compiled....for WHAT??!!

we are at the end of the season and "going back to tackling basics" with 4 or 5 star recruits that have been playing since their nuts dropped....

then, there is that repeated taking sips of water and the world's loudest gulp....over and over.....

    the man has no clue....

for the team to start quickly, they need to be relaxed....and he thought they were.....really? we look like CRAP in the beginning of every game.....

He praises the defense for holding a team "in their house" to two touchdowns....but, yeah there was the final drive that had enough penalties to hand the other team the game....TOTALLY undisciplined....

FOLKS, to be talking IOWA STATE that recruits in the 40's and 50's as if they are PennState "in their house"......PROCESSED HAY!!!

Speaking of numbers - does everyone realize we have lost at least 4 games each of the last 10 consecutive seasons? I guess I knew but maybe I blocked it out as a defensive mechanism. That is a lot of bad football. Especially for the University of Texas.

It feels like we are being punished by the football gods but, in reality, we have endured a string of bad school president/AD combinations. People who were concerned about many different things, championship level football sadly not being among them. That's my take anyway.

It can be tough to watch the programs of other schools like tOSU and even ou prosper through their transitions. And here are once again staring down yet even more transition. The only good news is at least we did not have to watch aggy prosper through this period. But that's a horrible rationale to have to reach for. This sucks. It sucks that we suck. I hate it. But to quote Joe Jamail, I am only a lousy $100 fan and have no say in the matter whatsoever. And there is no comfort in the recognition that I had absolutely nothing to do with our suckiness.

    2010 was 5-7
    2011 was 8-5
But both more than 4 losses.
TH can still turn it around but he must adapt to his players and he’s not doing that so far this year. He’s trying to force lesser players to adapt to his schemes. He had much better talent/ depth last year. Truth hurts.

That's why people that defend where we are make no sense. If this was a business and it was YOUR business would you be happy? Or would you as CEO take over and work your hardest to turn it around. CDC and TH need to own it like it's their business and if it under performs, no stock bonuses at the end of the year. I hate these contracts with incentives to do well, but nothing if things don't go well. Screw that. You want the big bucks than pay 500K for a win. Keep it simple.

Yes, our sports journalist friends remind us of this quite often. Texas has been mediocre in about everything but VB, Swimming and Golf since the LHN was created. It seems like a curse. Wouldn't bother me if it were dumped.

I’ve wondered the above about LHN. Are there ways to tie the mediocrity to a TV Network owned by the University? MB mentioned the distraction it was. Ive never been an LHN fan specifically.

I love you, Joe. But please stop talking about football gods. First, I do not believe they exist (though I could see why the last 10 years might make one wonder), but more disconcerting is the fact that one of my favorite Hornsfans sounds like LeBron when speaking this way.

Maybe more clapping from our coach and more jumping up and down from our reserves and walk-ons. That should help.

I think Tom needs to turn things around pretty quick. He has that type of personality that is so easy to dislike. If he doesn't start winning big, meaning championships, PDQ he will be gone. I don't mean next year, but well before the contract runs out.

We're just not elite. Anyone who thinks we should be based on "We're Texas" and how well we stacked up against good teams from the 60s-70s is ignorant of the reality around our program. The rest of the nation knows we're soft and average pretty much every year. We're A&M with a handful of much, much better seasons than they had.

Since Mack's arrival, the only times I think people really treated Texas as "elite" opponents by the end of those seasons were 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2009. And before that? Probably 1983. So we had a 9-season run where we could put our name near the "blue bloods" and people around the program (mostly the apologizers within the program and the weak media who throw softball questions at mediocre coaches every week) refuse to admit that Texas just isn't all that great. Not just "in the moment" average, but average all around. Forever and always. Going back to the 70s.

I guess the bad news is that 2001 was Mack's 4th season, and he showed progress in his first three seasons thrown in with the brainfarts of the 1999 NC State game and poor special teams play bogging us down. We haven't seen Herman make progress outside of Sam playing well in some games and a defensive battle against a team that was super bummed to be in the Sugar Bowl instead of the CFP. People point to Dabo having a mediocre season after their first New Years bowl win with Clemson, but their regression was from like top ten to #22 that year. So because we don't have the progress, I'm on board for any and all fixes the program attempts.

Herman may have coached under winners, but he only learned the stats, culture, and motivation speech aspect of the game; and not the "coaching" aspect of the game from these men he worked for.

We don't know because the school didn't do a coaching search.

Which would have been ok if Herman would have had upper-level Power 5 HC experience. I believe Texas has now proven that no matter how good a Group of 5 Coach is, the jump to the upper-level Power 5 is huge and most cannot make it.

This is now the 8th time in the last 10 seasons we have lost 5 or more games (2012 and 2018 were the 2 seasons with only 4 losses)

Yep. Think Leach. When his teams are winning, most people think he’s hilarious and a real gem in the college football world. When he’s losing, most people think he’s just a weirdo who needs to shut up and coach.
