I certainly hope not. While I don't think anyone believes OU found a quality replacement for Dr Boren, losing Linc signals that the new guy doesn't carry the approval of the athletic department, leaving the Big XII without leadership. Our only hope is that the other schools will rally around CdC, run Bowelsby out of town, and throw mega bucks at Oliver Luck.

Hopefully Barry will talk some sense into Riley.

Riley may very well end up in the NFL but not next year. I realize many are hopeful of this but he has confirmed to recruits and their families that he will be in Norman in 2020. Circumstances could change but it makes little sense to make the move at this time. He has two five star QB’s in the pipeline, one on campus redshirting and another committed for 2021. He loves the college game and recruiting.

You have to ask yourself, why anyone that is gainfully employed leave their current situation to work for Jerry Jones? The Cowboys’ job as it is can’t be attractive to anyone who is currently running their own program and Lincoln certainly is in that situation today. Additionally, offense and QB productivity is not the Cowboys problem. They need a CEO that can demand excellence from all phases. Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, et.al. would make more sense. I believe Lincoln is smart enough to know his current skill set won’t make the immediate impact Jerry will expect.

Anyway, this article is based on Vegas Odds and “unnamed” sources. The money making bet here would be the field.

Any Dallas head coaching candidate would have to be willing to tolerate Jerra’s interference and that rules out any coach who is worth their salt.

Is Dave Campo in the market?

As A Sooner, I wouldn’t mind, or be surprised, to see Riley go to the NFL. I trust Castiglione to hire a great head coach. I’m sure Urban Meyer would be everyone’s choice, but I doubt he would be Castiglione’s. I’m sure input would come from Stoops and Riley himself, to leave OU in good hands. It would probably be an up and comer that everyone would say “WTF?”, but so was Stoops and Riley.
I would like Ruhle myself. His teams play hard and tough. They beat up OU and Texas. He would be able to get high 3* and 4*’s at OU, and bring a toughness that OU hasn’t seen since early in Stoops career.

    Well.......

If Jerry's looking for someone from the college coaching ranks, and someone who is all in for Dallas:

I had a conversation with Spike regarding the UVA job coming open, but told him Sonny needed to know they were happy with mediocrity, and did things half assed. No administrative support.

if Spike was still with us, I’d tell him that UVA is a dream job compared to working for Jones.

With Jerruh, money talks. Seems like when he wants something, he throws the money at it until he gets it. BUT, he constantly meddles in the operations, dictates and controls personnel, mainly for him to be able to take credit for the team’s successes on the field. He wants the public to view him as a type of football guru and likes to take credit for the super bowl wins. Link has a good gig going at OU, and if Jones were to offer him the HC in Dallas, I hope he takes a long careful look before he jumps.

OU should throw tons at Lincoln to keep him in Norman. Lincoln seems to be a quality individual and a great offensive mind. The $ should be comparable to the NFL and the adoration/love Sooner Nation will (hopefully?) continue to show Riley should be proof enough that he's in the right place. Unless they get tired of winning the Big 12 and making the occasional CFP and maybe just maybe squeezing out a natty or two...

As a Sooner fan, my desire would be that Lincoln stays 20 years and earns the merit to have a statue along side Benny, Bud, Barry and Bob one day. However, I don’t want the University to pay above the market rate for him to stay at OU. Bob used the NFL to leverage “appropriate” raises through his 18 year tenure. I don’t believe he was ever the highest paid college coach. I would expect the same happens with Lincoln. A bidding war to keep him would be way outside the norm for Oklahoma.

He might eventually leave but the program will always be bigger than a coach in time.

Everyone is entitled to his own pursuit of happiness, but it appears Lincoln has found his place in the world and as a millionaire, maybe a 10%? raise wouldn't really make that big of an impact, keeping him in Norman.

OK^^^I am gagging for agreeing with a sooner. And Ruhle is likely just the flavor of the month. But he does look very good right now. And I would trade TH to Baylor for Ruhle.

To most of us, we would agree. However, the line will be long and distinguished. In their mind any HC wants to be the best at the highest level - you would not want to hire one with any other aspirations, but to be able to say you that you were an HC of the Dallas Cowboys fills a lot of ego buckets.

Also, despite his public persona, Jerrah truly cares about all of his people from the janitor at The Star to his HC. I have a friend that retired from the Cowboys after 20 years with Jerrah, and the stories that he has told that never make the news are unbelievable.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Lincoln has got a sweet gig going in Norman. I don't picture him leaving, at least at this time.

Despite all the prestige and $$$ that would go with being the HC for the world's most valuable sports franchise, I think he would be unwise to work for Jerra.

Jerry doesn't have to fire Jason as his contract is up.

I think Josh McDaniels or Kenny Norton would have the inside track for the HC job. I don't think Jerry dips into the NCAA pool unless it's Riley that he can get.

But why exactly? You don't want your kid's soon-to-be tuition raised? You're a huge money bags and only want to give $1m to the department, not $2m?

If you have a winner, why do you care? ...Sincerely
