    Friday 11/29:

Va. Tech vs. UVA -- The "Commonwealth Cup." This one could be more interesting than usual. UVA started out red hot this year and was a Top 25 fixture the first half of the season. Va. Tech came on strong the second half of the season. Hooker is VT's QB after taking over mid-season. Hooker has 10 TDs and no INTs, and by virtue (or vice) of his surname, he makes for good headlines. If he can hustle and avoid UVA's solid pash rush, Hooker should be turning tricks during this game and walking the streets with a swagger after a victory.

Iowa vs. Nebraska -- So you think Iowa will run away with it, huh? Don't be so fast. Iowa is the better team. The problem is, Iowa doesn't run away with much of anything. The Hawkeyes defense is very stout, but Iowa really struggles to put points on the board. If the Huskers can keep it close, and somehow score against this Iowa D, it could come down to the wire. Nebraska has been getting their butts stomped in for much of the year, but if the Husker fans can be patient, I think Frost will ultimately make them into a winner program again. They won't dominate in a league with Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, aOSU, Michigan, Mich. St., PSU, etc., but they'll be good again--if they can be patient.

Missouri vs. Arkansas -- A mediocre Tiger team slaughters the hogs as Barry Lunney, Jr. wonders what he got himself into.

    For a visual:

Wash. State vs. Washington -- The Apple Cup. The Pirates will be up for this intra-state rivalry, but the dogs have too much and play at home in Seattle. Husky QB Eason is very good and the dog running game is solid. Put it together and their just plain better than the Pirates by a long shot.

WV vs. Texas Christian -- Look for the Frogs to take this one at home. Duggan will need to use his legs, as well as his arm against Stills and the tough WV pass rush. He will.

Cincinnati vs. Memphis -- An interesting matchup between the two most talented teams (overall) in their league. I think Memphis wears them down as the game goes on.

So. Florida vs. UCF -- Battle of the directional schools in the Sunshine State. Poor Charlie (now 4-7 for the year) drops this one to the more talented, and better coached UCF team.

Iowa just got screwed by the officials and even most Nebraska fans are saying so. Catches a pass, takes 3 steps, falls down, rolls over while on the ground, then the defender taps the ball out of the WRs hands. Was called complete on the field and they still had the temerity / idiocy to reverse it.

Blacklock of TCU blatantly slams the crown of his helmet into Doege's head while up by 4 points with 2 minutes left. So instead of 4th and 12, it's first down West Virginia and Blacklock is ejected for targeting.

Possibly the best day of the season for "Other Games of Interest".

Ohio State vs. Michigan -- In a day full of good games, this is the headliner. Aside from Texas vs. OU, this is the greatest rivalry in the sport. The Buckeyes have won seven in a row in this matchup. This year's Ohio State team has played as well, or better, than anyone thus far, including LSU. Michigan got off to a slow start, and their fans were calling for Harbaugh's head after getting smashed by mighty Wisconsin. Big Blue came on the latter half of the season, and has a real chance to knock off mighty aOSU at home in the Big House. Keeping Chase Young in check (1 sack, a handful of other QB pressures) is key for Michigan to effectively run their offense. That's easier said than done. Shea Patterson is a good pro-style QB. The Wolverines spread the ball around to many weapons. They've just got to block Chase Young and the tough Buckeye D front. Harbaugh is right back on the hot seat with a loss. Michigan lost by 7 to Penn St., while aOSU beat the Lions in a hard fought game. It's going to be a tough one for Big Blue, but I'm hoping they come through. Hail to the Victors!

Oklahoma vs. Okla St. -- A battle of good coaches. Though the talent advantage is clearly in the Sooners' favor, look for the possible upset at Stillwater today.

Iowa St. vs. Kansas St. -- Both teams are 7-4. Both teams play hard nosed, usually fundamentally sound, football. ISU has generally kept games close, and has even upset teams with far superior talent (cough, cough, ahem, cough, cough...). ISU wins in a tight one.

Alabama vs. Auburn -- Auburn's D vs. Bama's O. The Iron Bowl. Probably the closest thing to the old UT v. aTm intrastate rivalry. Without Tua, Bama isn't the same team. Backup QB Mac Jones has come in and put up some good numbers against sorry competition like W. Carolina. It should be embarrassing to Auburn that Nix is the best QB they can put on the field. If Auburn can keep it tight towards the end, they may pull off the upset.

Wisconsin vs. Minnesota -- At the start of the season, whoever would have thought anybody would care about this game. Coaching advantage -- Minnesota. Advantage in the trenches -- Wisconsin. Result--barn-burner. Wisconsin in a hard fought win.

aTm vs. LSU -- LSU shreds the aggies in Baton Rouge.

Florida St. vs. Florida -- Dan Mullen's Gators are too much in the Swamp for a Florida State program that's falling off a cliff. After the in-season firing of their coach Willie Taggart (coach for 2 years after Jimbo left their program), interim coach Odell Haggins will have a hard time matching up to the Gators.

Georgia vs. Ga. Tech -- Georgia, and it ain't even close.

Notre Dame vs. Stanford -- This isn't the usual good Stanford team. The 4-7 Cardinal is no match for the good, but not great, Irish team this year. 70% chance of rain, plus strong winds could make it interesting. Although foul weather usually favors the team that is stronger in the trenches that can pound it out on the ground as needed. Hint--that would not be Stanford.

Clemson vs. So. Carolina -- Clemson has way too much talent, and much better coaching. This bitter intrastate rivalry could make it a bit interesting--at least for the first half.

Cal. vs. UCLA -- The battle of the California Bears. Cal has a strong D front and a very good pass rush. UCLA is better than their sorry 4-7 record and the game is in L.A. It's a toss-up.

Arizona vs. Ariz St. -- Another bitter intrastate rivalry that nobody outside the State of Arizona cares about. ASU is a pretty decent team and is playing at home. Zona (4-7) just plain stinks. I'm not sure about Zona's coaching either (Kevin Sumlin). ASU wins.

No. Carolina vs. NC State -- Mack (5-6) earns his first win over their big in-state rival the NC State Wolfpack (4-7). Mack's going to recruit well wherever he goes. It's just a matter of time before he has his TarHeels challenging for the ACC title.

Alabama vs Auburn is crazy wild. Alabama 31 - 27 at the half. Auburn kicks a field goal with one second left and no timeouts. There was a review of the previous play that stopped the clock.

My Falcons (USAFA) took Wyoming 20-6 to finish the season at 10-2, with losses to Navy and Boise State. All in all, a pretty decent season, with a bowl game yet to come. Nice to see the Falcons win - I'm not sure we won 10 games in total during my four years!

All three service academies had good years and are more-or-less relevant on the college football scene again. Especially Navy. This is good for both the sport and the service.

That Jaylen Waddle is a stud!! Remember we were close to getting him here on the 40 (along with Rondale Moore of Purdue)---both of those guys have speed that kills and are difference makers as underclassmen!

Wisconsin is stomping on Minnesota. 38-10. So, it'll be a rematch between Ohio State and Wisconsin for Big 10 Championship.

Meanwhile, Baylor is up 61-6 over KU with a minute left. That’s what a gimmie game is supposed to look like.

Nobody stops nobody. Maybe the wildest game I have ever seen. When we came back on Okie state it was all UT in the second half. This is total nuts on both sides.

Ok. Auburn kicker was on the field and lined up wide. They would have shifted into punt formation but it confused Alabama defense. What a great win. No problem with Alabama and the playoffs.
