I was 13 and will remember watching this game till the day I die. I will have to admit I didnt see Street to Peschel ..........I couldn't bear to watch and buried my head in my old boxer's side............damn sure heard it though! Everyone remember where they were that day?
Wow 50 years ago today... the date almost escaped me: Dec. 6, 1969.... Yup, I was 16 watching game on family RCA color TV with Dad who was a UT grad and brother who eventually graduated from UT. Never have seen as much hype leading up to a game as that one.... crummy cold / drizzly weather and a terrible artificial turf that day. Horns overcame 6 damn turnovers for an improbable win. Early on I was preparing my emotions the Horns may not win that game but Street magic & gutty D snagged the win. I remember the 3 of us were mentally worn out after the game. 15-14
Watched with my Mom and Dad, all three of us yelling at the TV set. Really great memory! My Dad. a depression era child, did not allow himself enjoyment of many things. Longhorn football was an exception, and obviously this was an exceptional day.
18 and in submarine sonar school; watching with a large crowd. EVERYBODY in the room was for Arkansas, including another Texan, who was an ag fan. They razzed me to no end until it was 15-14, then started again when Ark was on the move. I loved their groans when Ark was intercepted.
Watched the whole game with my parents. Lots of cheering, especially when the Horns took the lead! That 4th Quarter was epic.
At home, 18 yo, watching with Dad, bad weather, elect went off, ran outside to listen to game on car radio, heard Street's TD, came back in and watched rest of game. A game i'll NEVER forget!!!! Hook em!!!
I was there. I was in 7th grade, and my dad flew us up there. It was surreal. He earned his MD at Arkansas while serving on the faculty there. But he has his BS and his MA from Texas, and he always hated Arkansas.
