After years of nothing, this seems like breakneck speed as Texas announced today that the #24 Jersey of Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil will be retired at the Okie State game on March 8, 2020. Joyner Holmes currently wears #24 and will finish her Texas career with that number - becoming the last Longhorn to wear it. Not sure how they are going to handle Edwina's jersey with the same number. I assumed Texas would do theirs together. Long overdue honor for Clarissa.

Wayyyyy overdue! Not to take anything away from Ethridge's well-deserved honor, but Clarissa's should have been the first IMO. Annette Smith's better be up REAL SOON.

If they use the same criteria for the women that the men have traditionally used, Edwina would be the only other option. Kamie, Clarissa and Edwina are the only Longhorns to win the Wade Trophy (National Player of the Year). Clarissa also got the Naismith award (twice) that went to Cheryl Miller the same year Kamie won the Wade while Chamique Holdsclaw got the Naismith when Edwina got the Wade.

It was impossible, until it wasn't. Thanks Del Conte!

I loved watching her play. Her game was unreal. She was also a really nice person. I was in a comm class with her and she couldn't have been nicer. I am glad she is finally getting the honor she deserves.

She remains the greatest women's player I have ever seen. I say that in the context of the time in which she played. Taking nothing away from Griner (the game's GOAT), Theresa Weatherspoon, or the girl from west Texas who was afraid she was going to catch cooties on our squad that had diversity in spades. Understand she decided to play at Tech.

I will be in Austin to see Longhorn Royalty honored!! Hook Em!
