    Bummer.
But I bet he saw it coming.
Hopefully the Alamo Bowl performance propells him to a DC job somewhere.

If tceh actually begins to play defense, that scares the poo-poo out of me.

Many thanks for that sterling Alamo Bowl game plan Coach Naivar. All the best going forward.

Even worse when the begin again to recruit defense. 3 years down the road could be a whole lot different team.

Sad to see him go. One of only a few that actually did a good job. It's sad Herman couldn't find a place for him.

That post appeared while I was typing mine.
I noticed it right after I clicked "post reply" on mine.
But thanks for your help Captain Obvious.

    It happens all the time.
I’m glad Coach Orlando and Coach Naivar found jobs at Tech. They should improve that defense, but hopefully not against Texas.

When Naivar made the "This is my job interview" comment, do you think Tech was on his radar?

I would have preferred to see Orlando in another conference...

I just hope he does that delayed blitz and vacates the middle of the field on every 3rd and long. Be fine with that now that he's not ours.

Orlando is listed on Tech coaches roster, Naivar is not.

You are assuming the new OC will put passes to the middle of the field into our game plan. That would be a very tricky innovation for the Horns.

That's ok, his old friend didn't leave him hanging out to dry. Only a chicken **** son of a ***** would do that to a good friend.

Three sentences in 8 minutes will get you bounced out of the Stenographer's Pool.

Do Stenographer's Pools still exist? :confused2:

Everyone is assuming TT can recruit great defensive players to Lubbock.

Small point, but the headline is wrong as Naivar was not fired, he was just not retained. His contract was up and not renewed. He fulfilled it admirably.

Heard on the radio today that Naivar was not fired. He was given the opportunity to interview for a position but he refused to interview unless he had a real chance of getting a position on the staff. No such communication was given so he went looking for another job.

Nobody says they have to be great...a collection of very motivated and GOOD players that grasp notions of team cohesiveness is something I would imagine does better than a bunch of "me, me, I" great talents looking for limelight. And in that respect, Tortilla Tossing University should do ok with the recruiting...

With Orlando there it means sometimes they will...sometimes they really won't

My problem with Naivar was that his DB's could not tackle worth a damn. Embarrassingly bad.

    Defense starts with tackling.

Naivar was Safeties coach and they tackled fairly well.

It was the CB who did not tackle, but they have improved also very recently. Someone played some Kris Boyd and Quandre Diggs videos for them, I think.

We don't know because all the facts aren't in. Does the person turn out to be an honor graduate of the Barry Switzer school of friendship or just a dump and run in-great?
