Ahoy, SEC: Miss. St. pirates Leach from Wazzu this is something we always wanted to see, right?!--how the AirRaid offense would do in the SEC, just thought it would be Tennessee first, and then arKansas---can't stand state (grew up in central Mississippi in the glory years of Archie Manning--Hotty Toddy!!) but this could be interesting...
So the ‘Pirate of the Palouse’ is now the Pirate of the Tenn-Tom. Beware barge traffic on the Tenn-Tom waterway!
I’ve been to Starkville, Mississippi. He’d better dust off his “fat little girlfriends” speech. He’s gonna need it.
Pirate keeps getting these gigs at, how should I say it, "second tier" FBS schools: Tech, WSU, now MSU. No top level program will touch him, even though he's been a winner every where he's been. He cost us a possible Natty in '08. I hated playing Tech when he was the coach.
This would have shaken things up 5 years ago, Now much of the SEC has already adopted Leach innovations. Anybody else notice there were more points scored in the Iron Bowl by halftime than in entire Big 12 championship game?
Wait til the aggys play him. He's gonna crap in their cornflakes, annually. Maybe not the first year, but often thereafter.
He is STILL getting paid...and sometimes drawing that check with less stress is better than the pressure of a top-tier mantle slot. Being at the top echelon sometimes means a muzzle is required, and you cannot reasonably muzzle a Pirate
SEC is getting introduced to real offenses. JF was a special talent but part of it was the learning curve of the SEC vs the spread.
I'm thrilled to see Leach in the SEC but I really do agree with this. Then Washington defensive coordinator & now head coach Jimmy Lake wasn't shy about throwing shade at Mike Leach or shutting down his offense for years in a row. We all love The Pirate but he seems pretty stubborn and set in his ways. He's going to have to mix it up on offense and take defense seriously or I see a lot of 5+ loss seasons in Starkville.
Well, there will be at minimum 3 creampuffs a year. Then there is Arkansas, aggy, and Ole Miss which should account for at least two more wins most years. If your SEC East opponent is a walkover, there is your bowl qualification. What the Pirate does in the other games will determine the team's ultimate fate from year to year.
