It was assassination, even if a marginally justifiable one. I have read many articles from the author of the linked article. He is freedom oriented and rational. He provides data from various sources about reports, and draws some conclusions. I generally agree with them. The imminent threat statement didn't ever ring true to me. But Harsanyi's does, whether I agree with the specific action or not. The headline says it all really. But I would add a point. We can't trust the government's account of things either. The military industrial complex is a thing. They are a part of the Deep State, and have their own interests in reporting. The situation in Iraq/Iran is no different. It makes it very hard for anyone to really know what is happening and what should be happening. For me to truly approve of military action in Iraq/Iran, I need to understand and agree with the underlying goals and see how the specific action achieves those goals vs. escalates violence unnecessarily. I don't operate that way. I judge issues on the merits - not according to who agrees or disagrees with me. Bernie Sanders supports auditing the Fed. The fact that he's a crackpot socialist doesn't make him any less right on the issue.

I agree with you on that. My point was more specific. He was wrong about war in the ME, so we should not agree with what he said in the past about them and also what he says now. His understanding has been proven deficient on the subject.
I think the wars are different enough to be judged separately on their own merits or lack thereof. Heck is Afghanistan even really the "Middle East"? Isn't it Central Asia? Maybe we should have listed to Vizzini?
