Re: Todd Graham (new head coach at Hawaii)

His records at previous stints aren't that bad, including ASU. Rice's MOB did one of their rather infamous performances when they played Tulsa. Tulsa was coached by Graham who had left Rice for Tulsa right after signing a 2 year contract extension. This MOB performance was so outrageous, it led to Tulsa filing a protest with the conference.

The theme of the performance by the Marching Owl Band was a
search for Graham through nine circles of hell based on Dante's
    "Divine Comedy."

The performance suggested that Graham's shredded contract was
found in the fourth circle of hell with the greedy and the
avaricious -- also claiming that former Texas A&M coach Dennis
Franchione was in that circle -- and the coach could be found beyond
hell's greatest depths behind a door marked "Welcome To Tulsa."

And he's going to drive all aggies (even more) nuts. It's going to be a real comedy show down South. Kiffin is bound to get in on the action too. :smile1:

And to any of our LSU friends still lurking around, MSU won't be a blow-off game for much longer.

We live in the Dallas area. My son's GF is a Tech legacy, with grandparents in Lubbock. He has already been accepted at UT. She asked him to visit Lubbock with her. The look on his face when he returned said it all.

God, one has to love the MOB for teaching great literature, comedy and music at the same time.

Back when we had season tickets, the only time we would stay in the stands for halftime was when we played Rice. It was pure entertainment. One of their shows we witnessed was following the Tarell Brown firearm incident. The performance was hilarious!

    Rick,

I am the same way. One of my favorites was when they saluted Ann Richards by playing "Minnie the Moocher" and had the student body sing along.

Baylor -- The Brazos Bruins will likely hire Jorge Munoz (LSU analyst) as their new WR coach and possibly "passing game coordinator." Joey McGuire will stay at Baylor despite being courted by us, OU, and others.

Mississippi State -- It's looking like Zach Arnett (SDSU DC) for the Bulldogs' DC. See NAVY below for the scuttling of Leach's first choice.
Arnett spurns Syracuse to be Mississippi St. DC

NAVY -- Navy DC Brian Newberry turned down the Pirate of Mississippi State. Most online bloggers expected Newberry to join Leach in Starkville. They talked, Newberry declined. Leach probably didn't know to tell him that the father of the US Navy, John Paul Jones, was himself a pirate (according to many).
After being courted by Mississippi State, Navy defensive coordinator Brian Newberry stays

New Mexico -- hires our very own Jordan Salkin (Texas analyst and asst QBs coach) as the Lobos new QB coach. In the 2018 KSU game, Salkin filled in for Beck as OC in the press box due to Beck's illness.
Texas offensive assistant Jordan Salkin temporarily promoted in place of OC Tim Beck, who’s out with illness

TCU -- the Frogs lose a grad assistant (Laiu Moeakiola) to Georgia.

Or maybe pirates are distasteful to a Navy man.

John Paul Jones was considered a Pirate by the British. Just saying.

It was pretty well known, and it didn’t matter. If anything it only added to the fear he put in the British. He raided a town and military installation in England itself enraging King George. Similarly, John Hancock made a fortune as a smuggler defying the crown. Good for him. Lafitte was also a Pirate and he helped our naval efforts out quite a bit later on.

Baylor — Ha! Aranda just poached Austin Thomas (aTm assoc AD for football personnel) from the aggies. Some sites are referring to Thomas as the aggies’ “recruiting ace.”

Clearly Thomas must have washed out because he wasn’t up to par for the SEC—just like Aranda. :rolleyes1:

OU —Ruffin McNeil (OLBs) is apparently taking a long sabbatical to care for an ailing family member. Hope all goes well with him and his.

    Joe Kennedy and bootlegging:

Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. - Wikipedia

"Kennedy pursued a career in business and investing. In his mid- to late 20s, he made a large fortune as a stock market and commodity investor; he reinvested in real estate and a wide range of business industries. He did not build a significant business from scratch, but his timing as both buyer and seller was usually excellent.[7]"

"Various criminals, such as Frank Costello, have boasted they worked with Kennedy in mysterious bootlegging operations during Prohibition.[8] Scholars dismiss the claims. The most recent and most thorough biographer David Nasaw asserts that no credible evidence has been found to link Kennedy to bootlegging activities.[9] When Fortune magazine published its first list of the richest people in the United States in 1957, it placed Kennedy in the $200–400 million group."

That settles it. Having read this, i'll go ahead with the belief that Roswell was a Hollywood stunt; Charles Harralson had those rifles because he liked to hunt and he wasn't visiting Dallas in 1963; and Jack Ruby was truly distraught over the shooting of Kennedy.

The speakeasies had to be somewhere. If he was indeed involved, it was in distribution and retail sales. A lot of the liquor made it in through Canada and it was never illegal there. He seemed to not suffer from the stock market crash nor the Great Depression.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

This illustrates the danger of the common use of Wikipedia as an online encyclopedia. It is surprising that this battle is still ongoing since many members of the Kennedy Klan had stopped disputing the bootlegging allegations. It would be the equivalent of disputing Ted's alcohol abuse and calling him an occasional drinker.

Believe what you want to believe. Until credible/verifiable evidence is shown, it's little more than an unsubstantiated rumor and gossip. I never cared for the Kennedys so whether or not the stories are proven as fact, it is mere supposition and I could care less.

Way too many things written about the ties the Kennedy's had with Bootlegging, Organized Crime, and the Unions.

This is the age of revisionist historians.

Kennedy famously pulled out of the market when he realized receiving stock tips from the shoeshine boy signaled a market top.

Revisionist seems to imply you knew what the history was then changed it.

Today you don't have to know anything. Just believe what you want to be true. Then you can go online or to the tv and find an outlet that confirms what you want to believe and you have your proof.

    It's really pretty easy.

Between losing 9 underclassmen declaring for the draft+ however many senior starters including the QB, and then also replacing the offensive and defensive coordinators...I'd imagine most reasonable LSU fans aren't demanding a turnaround repeat. I'd expect LSU to be very tough but still lose a couple of games next year.
