We haven't seen the level of play we should see by now. Have good recruits, but mediocre production on the court. He's not quite the basketball version of Charlie Strong yet, but he's getting there. This could be the season he becomes just that.
It would be allsome if I could bend Airbus airplanes on a regular basis and still make a ton of money and be on TV. That's what Shaka Smart basketball seems to be like.
Five seasons, what will almost certainly be only two ncaa tourney berths and no ncaa tourney wins. For money spent this hire rates as single worst in UT athletics history and somewhere right now Rick Barnes is laughing his rear end off.
The hire by Patterson was bad. What I do not understand, is how the hell did he get a contract extension? That was not on Patterson, he was gone?
what is the buyout $$$$? Commonalities! Strong and Smart, both names are S's and neither can coach at this level worth a hoot!! Dumped one ....now the other needs to be dumped. What a waste of recruited talent but more so with Smart.
All of Texas' contracts are the worst in history. Texas paid Gastenkours a heap of money just because they could.....we care most about football in this state, where they pay is the highest and the stadium the fullest...I say pay Shaka the rest of this contract and then start the interview process....
Nothing. That's just the way things are done. Do you really believe major powers fire a coach then go looking? True, that happened with Mack Brown, but that was because we were so fractionalized. We did make contact with some, but DKR and Brown did their own thing, with the support of DKR's "committee". Who do we want? Who do we want? Who wants us?
Shaka's contract extention may not be the worst but it was the dumbest since he came no where near deserving an extention. At least Herman made huge strides getting Texas a bowl win and playing for a CC. Shaka did no better than the guy we fired before him, yet we gave him an extended contract...WTH was that all about ???
