I'm pulling for the Chiefs for no better reason than they haven't been there in a long, long time. (I just reviewed the list of Super Bowls and realized that I was in 5th grade the last time the Chiefs were there. And I had forgotten that it had been more than 20 years since the last time the Cowboys were there. Time flies.*) * and OU still sucks.
Kyle Shanahan Representing Texas Well. Former Longhorns WR is the driving force for 49ers Super Bowl journey
Something else that occurred in January 1970 (that I certainly didn't notice at the time): Terry Bradshaw from Louisiana Tech first pick by Pittsburgh Steelers
Mahomes is the first Super Bowl QB to have played both high school and college football in the state of Texas.
Bobby Layne won the NFL Title (there was no other in pro ball, in case you are too young to know) in 1952, '53 and '57.
Of course, but the point is it was the Championship. There was no other credible professional football league. The Super Bowl (which it was not called the first year) was a creation of the establishment of the AFL as being an equivalent league. Especially after SB3 and when the Jets beat the Colts. Joe Namath did it with a little help from his UT teammates who beat 'Bama in the 1966 Orange Bowl.
Just looked up some numbers. Washington was down 10-0 in the 1st and up 35-10 by halftime (sounds like a KC Chiefs game from this year). They rolled up 600 yards of offense in the win. Timmy Smith's record of 204 rushing yards in the Super Bowl still stands today, but he didn't even win MVP. But Ricky Sanders had 193 receiving yards and 2 TDs while Doug Williams threw for 340 yards and 4 TDs so 2 of the 3 had to get left out and Williams ended up with it. Elway was only 14/38 passing with 3 picks. Yikes.

Who you guys liking in this matchup? I was surprised to see KC come out favored if that tells you anything. If I had to bet, I'd go SF....just a real tough team all around. I think they will pressure KC and KC wont get there as often. Mahomes certainly the X factor if he can work magic in the face of a big time pass rush. Having said this, I want KC to win and can see it going their way almost as easily. But... SF 31 KC 27
Mahomes does better against zone coverage, not as well against the man. The SF Defense has to be able to pressure Mahomes without blitzing and their defensive backs must be able to handle the speed of the KC's receivers. If SF plays primarily zone, they'll get picked apart by Mahomes. I'm picking SF by 5
Dear KC fans, yelling your name team instead of "brave" at the end of the anthem is not a cool tradition. It just makes you sound like thousands of dumbasses.
Needed a walk after heavy first half grazing... skipped most of the halftime BS. Hey y'all, we got us a good game at 10-10!! Finish it Chiefs!!!
