Hmmm. I honestly thought she had a better record than this: “Head coach Sherri Coale will look for her 500th career victory as the Sooners host Texas. Coale is 499- 273 in her 24th year at the helm for OU. “
I don't pay attention to OU, much. I knew last year they weren't doing well. But it was shocking to see they only won 8 games (!!) in all of 2018-2019. And since I don't follow their fanbase, I don't know how angry their fanbase was at the result. She's had a lot of transfers the last couple of years though.
She's great with X's and O's but in recent years the recruiting has suffered tremendously. I'm wondering how long she will be able to stick around if her recruiting doesn't improve.
Urban Dictionary: trap game When has OU ever been deemed to be easy to defeat regardless of their record?
The fans that are still around, perhaps. Attendance in Norman has plummeted. Judging from the OU fan forum (a small sample, admittedly), a lot of them are over her.
Way to handle business tonight. Finally a game that doesn’t take years off my life. Been awhile. Excellent job guarding Robertson tonight. See ya Friday
I'm glad Liz Scott didn't play the whole game. What happened to Veitenheimer? We were good, and they were pretty bad for an OU team. I bet they get it together and give us more of a game in Austin. I can't think of anything to complain about. I get nervous when Lashann and Sug are both on the bench. Charli driving down the lane was great. Face guarding Robertson worked well.
Especially with a $1 million+ salary the last 5-8 years or so, and missing the NCAA tourney last season, and not having made the Sweet 16 since 2013. She has to be in Top 10 in women's coaches salaries, which I think WAS deserved based on all her accomplishments up to that point. But, you still have to earn your salary each year and prove you are worth it. She's actually going down a similar path like Rick Barnes, although she won more Big 12 conference championships and reached an NCAA tournament championship game.
Winning at OSU on Saturday, and at OU three days later tested this team in many ways. Not sure what the actual flight schedule has been for them, but if they had to fly from Austin to Stillwater, back to Austin, then to Norman, and then back to Austin, that sounds tiring.
Really Solid performance, only had the 12 turnovers until the subs were in the last few minutes; most of them were pushing in transition and dead ball so didn’t hurt us. Great defensive pressure all night, OU looked extremely uncomfortable. Joyner looked a lot more like herself out there tonight, Charli in the first half was huge for us. Bench gave us some quality minutes as well. Big test on Friday, Hook ‘em
I definitely don't get how the Big 12 scheduling works. Meanwhile, Baylor played at home on Saturday, as well as tonight, and then makes the 1.5 hour bus drive to Austin on Friday morning.
If Texas just slow down. And stop rushing so much. Good win tonight...... I love Celeste..... Hookem'
Agreed. That's probably the worst OU team I can ever remember seeing, even going back to when Coale first took over.
Yeah Smith has been out and is working her way back from injury. I really do believe Texas can beat Baylor. Keys to the game will be staying out of foul trouble, limit turnovers, and get off to a great start! In terms of matchups I am not worried about that because Texas matches up with Baylor very well in every position so it's just a matter of how bad do you want it and I think these ladies are ready!
Unfortunately Texas and Coach Aston have reached the point where we have to see it to believe it. I’m not going to think or believe Texas can have any sort of success against Baylor until they actually do it.
I recall Ariel Atkins was wearing #24, but when Joyner came on board as a freshman, Ariel switched to #23 and Joyner wore #24. The weird thing is #23 was available when Ariel was a freshman. So I can only presume Ariel was kind enough to give the number to Joyner.
If one were to look at recruiting rankings out of high school, "on paper" this should be a hair-pulling, barn-burner of a matchup. Unfortunately we have barely sniffed them with the group that's been with us the past few years. I wouldn't be shocked to see us compete with them, but I'd be surprised. Conversely I would be neither shocked nor surprised if they were to beat us soundly. We just never know what to expect.
