    NOTES

    • The Battle of I-35 resumes Friday for the 100th all-time meeting between two schools separated by just 100 miles. Tip-off at the Frank Erwin Center between Texas and No. 2/1 Baylor is slated for 6 p.m. and the game will be nationally televised by FS1.
    • The Series: Texas and Baylor meet for the 100th time with the Longhorns leading the all-time series 58-41. The Lady Bears are Texas' second-most frequent opponent all-time behind the 103 all-time meetings between the Longhorns and Texas Tech. When the game is played in Austin, Texas holds a 26-16 advantage. Baylor has won 19 of the last 20 meetings between the two squads. Texas last defeated Baylor on Feb. 16, 2017 - an 85-79 win in Waco's Ferrell Center.
    • vs. the Ranked: Texas is 2-2 this season against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top-25. The Longhorns have wins against No. 17 Tennessee and No. 1 Stanford earlier this year.
    • Sophomore Success: Sophomore center Charli Collier is one of six players in the Big 12 Conference to average a double-double with 13.8 points per game and a squad-best 10.3 rebounds per game. She has 11 double-doubles and ranks 24th nationally in rebounds per game. Collier, her team's starting center, leads the Longhorns in minutes played at 30.3 per game.
    • Taylor-Made: Freshman guard Celeste Taylor is a two-time Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week selection and has made a big impact on her team this season. Taylor is tied for the team lead in three-pointers made [20] and is second in steals [31]. She averages 9.1 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. Taylor has scored in double figures in 10 games this season.
    • On The Boards: Success on the boards has been a staple of Texas teams for many years. In fact the Longhorns have tied or won the rebounding battle in 132 of their last 159 games overall, including 14 of 20 games this season. The Longhorns hold a +9.5 rebounding margin, which ranks 12th nationally. Texas has reached 50 or more rebounds in six games this year.

Texas will have to score and score often. We can't afford big stretches with no buckets.

Even though I have always believed we have the talent to beat them straight up, you would have to believe that them being without one of their top two players would certainly play to our advantage. If Nalyssa Smith doesn't play, that certainly makes them more vulnerable.....

As much as I tried to kill any hope I had for this team, they pulled me back in. Damn it. I want this win.

Go Horns! Beat the bears. :bevo:

She returned in their last game, so I’m assuming she’s gonna play in this one. Limited minutes possibly, but still.

Yeah she will play but will only play 15-20 minutes as she is working her way back from injury.

Karen aston does not seem very confident or excited about today. I hope we don't get the no emotion Aston as we did in the beginning of the season and I hope we get the energetic Aston we saw vs Stanford and Tennessee. We play our best when she is energetic and on it!!

And with good reason, I think Baylor is too balanced offensively and defensively and will win 76 to 51.

Lol I don't think so. Without smith playing as much baylor has had some close calls. They barely beat tech and out of all the teams in the big 12 Texas matches up with them the best in terms of talent of players and size. If Texas can bring what they brought against Stanford and Tennessee then we will be good.

As I said in an earlier post, I have to see it to believe it. Every year as fans we talk about how Texas matches up well against them only to lose.

Tonight's game with Baylor is a defining point of this season. Win and the Horns roll into the 2nd half of conference play with confidence, swagger and a higher seed come post season play in the tourney. Lose competitively and the potential to run the tables 2nd half of conference play is still possible. Lose big time will confirm KA's achievements and future potential have certainly topped and her contract status rightfully remains in limbo until the end of the season. Although Texas is tied with TCU at 6-2 conf record, a big loss just shows how far Baylor is and will never be caught to with KA and this coaching staff.

A 1-19 record vs Baylor is frankly an unacceptable record that no Texas coach in any sport should have with a conference "rival". Yes, the quotes in rival for WBB as Baylor doesn't even see Texas as a rival except maybe in recruiting. Will Texas fans accept a 2-38 record after 20 more tries on Baylor/KM?

CDC will need have an interesting decision to make on who'll coach next season. This game has that big of an impact on what needs to be done. Make or break, we shall see.

It's not like Texas does not have what it takes its simply who wants it more and Texas is kind of known for showing up in big games this season. Idk I guess it's just me but I am a fan of Texas regardless and I feel like nothing wont get done if we as fans come in with the mindset that we will lose every time we play a good team. I believe in this team and I believe in Texas so I'm going to say they will win with every game they play.

When you are 1 and 19 against a team, it's kind of hard to be confident about beating them. We certainly have the talent to beat them....but will we??? THAT is the big question. I would love nothing more than to send them back to Waco with their head hanging low......

I mean I really don't look at past record. I look at each game as a different opportunity to beat a team. I truly do have confidence in the Longhorns and have each game and we have a win streak so hopefully that momentum carries over into this game

When you are 1 and 19 it actually is relevant. It means you have not, at least to date, found a way to beat them in any type of consistent manner. I'm hoping we change that tonight....

Wonder why KA subbed in Allen-Taylor first instead of Higgs. Don't get it.

Well we are off to a good start. I think we need to feed collier in the paint as well as joyner holmes but the way collier has been shooting the 3 she needs the ball in her hand

We're playing hard. Wish more of our shots would go in. Hate to see Joyner taking off balance fade away jumpers. Surely we can get something better than that.

Van Lengen is so right, our chaos and wild shots on offense are bad.

Totally destroying us inside with Collier on the bench. No rebounding, no inside defense. Getting bad.

The way Texas handles screens is so bad and is what causes such bad defense. They stand their and accept the screen which causes the post to have to switch and which is why egbo of baylor is scoring. Also I still have yet to figure out what our offense is besides screen once then go one on one.

I usually stick by the old adage "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all."
But this 3rd quarter performance is pathetic. Sigh. :confused2:

I’m not sure we scored the entire quarter.
