Kicked butt !!!! Maryland sucked. They were run-ruled by WSU earlier today. Horns do the same.....17-0 win with 15 hits.... Scored 11 runs in one inning due to hot bats and errors by the Turtles ... Horns 2-0 on the season.
Mike White "mercyed" them by having a player purposely not be on base during a pitch so we could finally end the 4th inning and get to the top of the 5th to end the game with a run rule. I don't think I've ever seen that at the college level. But yeah, the MD players had given up and weren't going to get anyone out.
Yeah, I went "what the heck?" and then my daughter who plays on a middling high school team who has been crushed and has crushed other schools says, "Yeah, just like when we played that [crushed] team. Coach had us step off the bag."
In baseball back when I umpired, I have seen coaches tell players to step on the plate when they hit to give up an out.
