    Louisiana Horn,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I was at that game. Dallas had signed Bob Hayes, so to counter, the Giants signed 100 hundred yard dash world record holder Henry Carr as a DB to cover him. I had the privilege of being in section 20 for that game. Hayes smoked Carr 2 or 3 times, thus ending the "Henry Carr Experiment".

Too Tall and Randy Hughes should have also been included as MVPs in the super bowl game with Denver. And who would have guessed right after the cotton bowl game with Navy that Roger would lead Dallas to glory.

Tom Landry knew they were coming to fire him. Tex Schramm had worked with him as the general manager all those years and Jerry Jones brought him long to fire him. This involvement of Tex really upset him and showed a lack of class. Especially since they also fired Tex a few months later.

Probably............Pro Football Ref has him at 5'9" and that may be fudging a bit.

Always felt sorry for Danny White..........took Cowboys to 3 straight NFC title games.

He was our lawyer in Atlanta for a project over there. 5'9"? Not even in high heeled cowboy boots. My guess is 5'7" . and that's stretching it

Erik Williams and Michael Irvin are probably discussing what to do with the body of the hooker they left in the hotel room during that huddle.

Not sure but guessing this is from 1968........I can see Garrison, Rentzel, Bullett Bob, Morton at QB and I think thats Les Shy (#26) next to Morton. Certainly remember Spider Lockhart #43 of the Giants.

On this day 45 years ago, Roger Staubach and Drew Pearson created a new term for the game of football. In a postgame interview, Staubach said of the play, "I closed my eyes and said a Hail Mary."
After a heave that went 50 yards in the air, Pearson caught it at the five and walked into the end zone, and the late in the game, "Hail Mary" pass was born on December 28, 1975. The Cowboys beat the Minnesota Vikings 17-14 in Municipal Stadium in the Divisional playoff game to advance to the NFC Championship.

Tom Landry led the Cowboys to 20 consecutive winning seasons from 1966 - 1985, an NFL record that still stands today. Through last season, Bill Belichick had led the Patriots to 19 consecutive winning seasons. With today’s loss to the Dolphins, the 6-8 Patriots cannot have a winning season, ending their streak at 19. Tom’s record stands. This may be the least spoken about, most likely to never be broken record in football. The greatness of Tom Landry continues.

A book that I had many years ago, and may still have - Next Year's Champions: The Story of the Dallas Cowboys. Written about the 1968 team from training camp through the '68 season. This was the season after the Ice Bowl.

Don Meredith would retire at the end of the '68 season. No America's Team, No Cowboys - Redskins, No Cowboys - Steelers. Just a history up to that point in time.

It's a team on the verge of being great and still trying to find it's way.

I need to find that book and re-read it.
