Ellish pitched a good game. She only had 1 strikeout to go wit 1 BB i 5 innings pitched, but she gave up tons of ground balls and only 1 hit. Day, Iokopo, & Slack each had 2RBIs a piece. Day also homered in the game. Way to get the offense rolling again after their last two games where they had a total of 7 runs.
Elish had total control of the Vols! It will be interesting to see who pitches against the Mexico Olympic team and ole miss. I would guess Elish will get another start.
Sam Houstoun state. I think we decided to get her after Vawter committed to Stanford. I think we may have one that one lol
Yeah, I was curious enough to go and compare their stats: Day: Record: 2-0 ERA: 0.00 Hitting: 0.526 with 19 At BatsVawter: Record: 2-0 ERA: 1.75 Hitting: 0.200 with 5 At Bats Yeah, Win-Win for everyone!
Been wondering about that myself. I guess it depends on which game (Mexico or Ole Miss) today is more important to Coach White. I would think we gotta get the win over an SEC team like Ole Miss (for RPI/SOS) versus focusing too much on an exhibition game versus Mexico. I would pitch Miranda in the night cap versus Ole Miss, and start/play O'Leary and Courtney Day against Mexico.
Like most, I didn't follow her recruitment or her performance in high school. But, with stats like these, not sure how she could have been under the radar playing in south Houston area softball. If she was "hidden" (based on who recruited her early on), then kudos to Coach White for evaluating her skill and potential correctly. On a couple of occasions already, I've heard the TV/radio commentators mention that according to Coach W, Day had been one of the most impressive hitters throughout practices; not sure if that meant her power, or her ability to spray the ball throughout the outfield for hits.
