Besides the hotness factor, I like seeing him have people loyal to him return, people who are on board and believe in the policies going forward. He needs people he can trust around him through this next election.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

These numbers show a real strength for Trump. If the economy holds up until November, Trump should win handily with a republican majority.

If the Dems had a way to tank the economy they would.

Reagan has Volker hold interest rates high in order to allow weak companies to fail and the economy adjust to economic reality.

Obama had Bernanke reduce interest rates ever further and hold it for 10 years.

Trump is doing the same thing as Obama unfortunately.

I lived through that. There was a lot going on. You cant really take it all in without a good hard look at the 1970s, which were brutal for the US economy (and which actually began in the late 1960s). It eventually swallowed Texas whole too (was beyond rough). The revival took both Volcker's resolve and Reagan's changes.

If Trump pulls that off this year, I won't vote Libertarian. I will vote Trump proudly.

I wonder which bar Deez would organize the meeting at. :hookem:

In the 1970s, the US ended the Bretton Woods agreement that ended the gold reserve standard to turn the $ into a true fiat currency. That allowed low interest rates and huge money supply growth. It killed the economy. Carter started out going along with the same program.

Then at the end he had Volker raise the Fed rate to help the economy restabilize. It cost him the election. Thank God, Reagan continued Volker's/Carter's monetary policy. It was the correct one and lead to the 80s. Trump ain't on the same train.

Just wanted to add a graph showing how closely linked productivity is to labor rates. There was some discussion on this or another thread about what causes wages to improve. Negotiation and competition is part of the process, but the determining factor is labor productivity. Labor productivity is increased through better tools, mass production, and automation. For the trend below to continue we are going to need more of the same and AI.

I was being generous. Lol. And I wasn't around in the '60s, so I didn't want to be presumptuous.

Reagan also did it without free money from the Fed to prop up the economy.

The free money is the problem itself not a side issue or a solution. Every bank run, recession, and depression has been preceded by free money of some sort.

Right. Volcker did the opposite -- he squeezed the hell out of it
