Even though the game won't be aired LIVE on LHN, it will be shown later at 9 PM Central according to my cable guide. And, several more times on Thursday.

I'll be going to the game this afternoon, with my poncho on, unless I see a tweet cancelling the game. You folks want semi-active updates of the innings or would prefer to watch it in unknown bliss on LHN when it gets rebroadcast at 9:00?

I'll watch after the baseball game. Gives us an update after of thoughts on the game, atmosphere, and coaching.

I'm really hoping we don't overlook this game. UNT is a team with some pretty good pitching, that I could see in the tournament.

It says you can watch it on the espn app on your phone live. I don't know how that is going to work when baseball is on longhorn network but we will see once the game starts

I want wins every time, but "easy" wins or run-rule games aren't gonna happen all the time, nor are they good for the team all the time. Facing adversity, getting through tense moments, and finding a way while showing grit and determination will help mold this team's identity.

Well....I have to take the glass half full viewpoint. First, they started the season #6 and moving from #6 to #4 with both OU and UCLA still ahead of you (and we're playing both of them this year) I think keeps you a bit humble.

Second, Texas especially one with the #4 target on their backs is always going to get the very best out of the opponent. They didn't pitch their worst pitcher, they pitched their best.

Maybe the opposite is true? We played a bunch of marshmellows that have given us the wrong impression that we're going to run-rule everybody?

I'm taping the replay (we move ahead in the action) and I'm going to take a look at the calls by the second base ump in innings 8 and 9 when NT was batting. Very, very close calls on first base and then second.

I wrote the SID for softball about last night's game. Sorry for the tiny font, I had to shrink my email in order to pull in the whole letter and picture in one snapshot:

North Texas is not a power 5 opponent, but they are a quality team. Their pitcher was CUSA player of the year in 2019. They have a win over 11th ranked Louisiana team this year.

We may see them again in a regional game.

Last night's replay at 9:00 got snipped (by my DVR) because the MBB went a bit long. So, need to re-record again today. And, they didn't show the NT at-bats in the 8th and 9th inning so I could see if the NT player was really safe at 1st or if the NT player was really out on 2nd with the bases loaded 2nd out catch by MK Tedder. Bummer.

So for those who couldn't see it live, this is what happened in the 8th inning:
    NT: ground out to 3b

Texas: Elish hits NT batter, who takes 1st

NT: hits single down LF, runners on 1st and second

NT: hits a slow roller between pitcher and 1st

Texas: Sullivan, on first, runs towards the ball to try to stop and scoop the ball, and flubs it. She recovers and turns around to a very late arriving Jefferson (who some say was rushing towards the ball as well) who arrives at first and catches the ball Sully tosses to her around the same time the batter arrives. It's very close and the homer in me says the runner is out. Second base ump says safe. Mike very calmly asks to talk to the ump, then all 3 umps confer and the player is still safe.
    Now, bases are loaded.

NT: hits an arching ball into the gap behind first and the outfield and everyone is sighing that NT has scored a at least a run.

Texas: Except MK Tedder comes SWOOPING in and catches the ball and then fires the ball to first. The runners all have taken off thinking it was going to be at least a single start scrambling back to their bases. The runner from first, well it was close but it looks like she may have made it back. But Sullivan then quickly fires to second base where Jefferson is standing. This is where it looks like the ball made it to the bag before the runner who left second returned. Second base ump calls safe. Again, Mike goes and talks to the second base ump and still doesn't get the call.

Just wished we could see it in slow-mo to see for ourselves.

(and then the third out was when the next NT hitter dribbles a slow ball almost directly to Elish who picks it up and carefully tosses it to 1st)

They responded to my email. I will say that under CDC, someone usually responds and doesn't just wave us off as fringe fans.

They are heading for a 2 or 3 seed so hopefully it would be the second game. Any chance she ends up in the portal this fall for us lol?
