Herman had better beat 2 of those 3.

Frankly, 9-3 is just about right. I think with a break or two and no significant injuries 11-1 is possible and worry that a couple of bad days and an injury or five could make 7-5 suddenly be on the table so the mid point is a good guess. In the last decade Texas won ten games in a season one time......... one time. So if they get to ten wins to start the 2020's its a great start and hopefully turns the page on the worst decade of Texas football since pre World War II.

I think as long as we beat ou and dont have embarrassing losses against teams we "should" beat, TH will be OK.
I see us winning 2/3 out of that group....with maybe 1 other loss.
    A 10-2 season and trip to Big12CG....
And I'll add this.....yeah osu dominated us....during one of the worst decades in our program history! I personally am not scared of them and think they are waaay overhyped going into next season. They will be returning some talent....so are we. We should have and would have beaten them by about 17+ last year if not for a couple bone headed coaching decisions and a hard-to-believe your eyes-bad special teams day. Could those issues arise again for us? Sure they could...
...But so could their issues... like poor coaching decisions, lack of taking advantage of playmakers, overall weaker talent depth, and late season poor performances. Something tells me that will be a statement game for TH and...late in the season....he'll have 'em ready.
Bottom line is the media likes The Mullet and we've seen this hype before....they've only lived up to it.. like...once.
Beat osu and split lsu/ou and you're in good shape. Beat them all and you have a clear path to the CFP.

Who is realistiticsly out there that's a safe bet to be better? PJ Fleck's new extension is for a reported 4.6 million per year. Is he going to come for less than a million more to a new job where there's a hundred times more pressure to win?

7-5 and TH may be looking to sell his lovely home in Austin.

We must win at least 1 of the 3 games mentioned at the top. If we win two of three and lose to a lessor team on the schedule, then the Horns end the season at 10-2 and are in position to finish top ten and in a very good bowl game. 11-1 would be outstanding. 12-0--forget about it.

I think 10-2 is very a reasonable expectation, and anything less will put TH in hot water once more; and I would support turning the heat up.

With Sam back, experience on both lines, a strong defense and much better run game in the works, Horns should have a stand out season. ou is without a Heisman contender; osu is potent offensively, but very vulnerable defensively. ISU will be a tough, well coached team, but we should bet them. No way they have the overall talent or depth as the Horns.

Bu, TCU, ttu, ksu, wvu are lagging behind ISU in 2020. Should all be wins. :hookem2:

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Schedule below. Me thinks 9-3 at this point... 10-2 upside. TH loses 2 of those 3 games OP identified. Hope I'm wrong.

I think 9-3 is most likely, but with visible improvements across the board. Especially when we play ****** teams like KU and don't have to rely on scoring 101 points to beat their 98.

We'll probably lose to LSU. This isn't the LSU from a few years ago that lost to Troy at home. And losing Burrow and the defensive talent isn't quite the hole that people seem to think. My best guess about the conference slate is that we lose to OU and OK State like Vegas seems to think, but I could see us flipping either one of those.

Either way, people shouldn't be too mad about 9-3, since it's improvement from 2019. We could still sneak into the conference title game with that.

What's really going to piss people on this board off is that A&M will probably go 11-1 and sniff the CFP for a few weeks. I still don't think they'll get in unless there's a big run of upsets that bump teams down to 2 losses in the Top 10.

Aggy has a very, very, very, very favorable schedule next year and 10-2 is almost a certainty for them barring some upsets with 11-1 definitely on the table.

I think aggy will find a way to “aggy it up” and fail to live up to expectations, once again. Pressure has not been their friend, in the past. As for our Horns? 9-3 regular season and another solid bowl win, and I’ll consider us to be back on schedule..

Everyone brace, if Texas had what aggy has schedule-wise, we would be talking CFP Championship. If aggy goes worse than 10-2 (losses to Alabama and LSU) Jumbo has had it. (What would be great is 10-2 with the losses to Ole Miss and Mississippi aggy).

As far as Texas goes - losing in Baton Rouge on the second weekend of play doesn't stop the world. Losing to ou in October would be disappointing; losing to oSu will be unacceptable on a number of levels.

Meh. The optics of double-digit wins is great for recruiting and hype and all that, but if we're an improved 9-3 team from the disappointment that was 2019, people take note of trends and I think we're still in good shape beyond 2020.

No one can reasonably look at the 4 CFP teams from last season (or even the Top 10 teams) and think we're on that level. We have a lot to work on. The Sugar Bowl win from 2018 clouded a lot of people's judgment about the program. I don't want another "WE'RE BAAAAAAAAACK" after 2020... just progress.

New OU QB also to whom Vegas has given better odds than Ehlinger to win the Heisman.

OSU will be a tough game there no matter the rest of the season. At least Boone cannot buy the officials personally this year.

I'm thinking we have a similar season as 2018: 10-2 or 9-3 regular season, loss in Big XII Championship, New Year's Six bowl win.

After what we had in the seven years before Herman, going to a New Year's Six bowl game two out of three years is a huge improvement, and there'd be little reason to believe the overall trend isn't upward.

The only referee Boone would even talk to is Mike Defee, and he would knock the **** out of the old man for suggesting such a thing.

The Big XII crews left by Anderson plus the midget Mexican from Arizona are incompetent, but considering they were hired by Anderson, who was hired by Donnie Duncan, and we all know what he was, thus your comment is not totally out of line other than to say Boone was involved.

I agree with this assessment....except....I think this is our breakthrough year in the Big12 CG. I believe Texas is about to emerge as the toughest (Im talking physically imposing toughness here) team in the Big12.

I say we lose to LSU and 1 other opponent...not ou.
KU will be closer than desired.
TCU will be improved but we pay them back at home.
oSu and isu will prove to be a tad overrated.
Baylor better than expected but below last year.
We win Big12 CG at 10-2 but are left out of CFP.

I agree with 10-2 and Big12 title. Not sure if we could get in the CFP with that, maybe not? OU would in that situation. I think we can take LSU and OU. But I’m more Iffey on LSU. I’de guess we lose to Baylor as well to make 10-2 regular season.

I don't care about anything except Texas winning the Big 12 conference. Nothing else will do, This is the year Tom wins the darn thing or it's never going to happen with this staff.

I believe we go at least 11-1 because we are that good and we beat LSPugh because of our good talent and new OC/DC. They won't be prepared for our new different schemes.

But it is all moot because there will not be a 2020 football season. '21 baby it's going to be a long wait.
