He isn't a Top 3 QB but he wants the Top 3 money. He's also got Jerry/Stephen by the balls because they let the backup QB situation and QB FA market get way out of their control.

I say tag him until he walks if he's unwilling to take the $33MM they were offering him. Something like 30 percent of his passing yardage was "2nd half of games with the Cowboys losing by 2 or more scores." They can easily get that production from someone like Jacob Eason, or a relative equivalent for a future draft.

 

I put him below Top 5 for sure. Maybe Top 10-15. But he's young, healthy, and durable. His pay is based on the new economics of a growing cap. There are better QBs on the end of their deals.

 

Damn, and now they lost Witten.

 

Not sure they could do much about the latter. As to the former, how many teams have backup QBs good enough to let a quality starter walk without being worried? Just 2 or 3?

Dak seems to be in the annoying QB mid-level gray zone where if he were just a little worse you would just try someone else, and if he were just a little bit better you would feel great about paying him. However, there's a reason that the teams paying their QB $30+ million/year aren't winning many Super bowls.

The thing is, he's got a lot of intangibles that you won't necessarily replace even if you find someone with a stronger arm and better accuracy. He's mature, he's a hard worker, he's a great leader who his teammates respect, etc.

I don't think Dak is all that good of a qb just like I complained for a couple weeks about Elliot getting paid what he is getting now. I feel like the Jones family just thinks "oh gosh, we better pay them or someone else will take them" when the reality is there is a lot of talent out there that can get similar production. If they want to pay that much then the player needs to be the best at his position and there's only one of those in the league. Can't be two best players.

 

I was hoping that Prescott being "franchised" meant Jones shipped his *** off somewhere and paid him off in McDonalds & Popeyes franchises.

 

Is this Dak when he is being shopped around?
