An anticlimactic end to the season

I'm still trying to come to terms with the very abrupt end to the season. March Madness has been an annual fixture and something I look forward to. Alas, there are forces and priorities that do supersede a game.

I'm sad to see the seniors' season end this way, not on their own terms. They might not have advanced far in the tournament, but at least they would have played in it.

Shake on it? Sports’ simple gesture now under the microscope
Handshakes have been part of sports culture for more than a century. Coaches and athletes, wishing each other good luck. A sign of sportsmanship. Congratulating the victor. Good game.

...Texas women’s basketball coach Karen Aston said “the situation is a bit overwhelming to think past today,” but believes the athletic landscape will “get back to some normalcy, which will include shaking hands.”

“It’s hard to fathom playing a team sport without contact, which is why there will be caution in moving ahead,” said Aston, who just finished her eighth season with the Longhorns. “The relevance of everyone being safe is in the forefront of our minds right now.” Shake on it? Sports' simple gesture now under the microscope
