I've stayed away from commenting for a while because of threads turning into firestorms, to the point where the admin had to threaten to shut down Women's Basketball.

I wrote CDC back a few months ago and gave him my perspective of the UT WBB program.
Note, these are my opinions only:
    1) Jody was great, but players were different than in her heyday and tuning her out
    2) I was excited for Gail, but she never got on a good footing when it came to recruiting and the players she got were okay, but not enough to push Texas to the top
    3) Karen came in and fixed Texas in the doldrums. She recruited well and played the prime 80's type of basketball style Jody taught
    4) But, things have started to unravel for for her

My opinion to him, as a longtime season ticket holder was:
    a) either he had to let her go and get a new coach in quickly. Letting her twist in the wind is hurting recruiting for her or a future coach
    OR
    b) give her a 3 year contract extension and fire her after 2 years if she can't turn it around

I never did get a response back from him. I wrote a similar type of letter about the women's softball program when Connie Clark was in the same situation, having an expiring contract. He (really an assistant) responded thanking me for my input and that "all aspects of the program are being reviewed".

I hope to be able to tack on a poll to this thread so I can see why you think the downfall of the program was.

I was all for giving her an extension, but head scratching losses this year made me think that "another year" wasn't going to be enough.

Well, Racer, I’d have to check all the boxes....and, like you, wanted an extension, especially in this time of turmoil...but, I guess it’s all over but the future..the ‘proof will be in the pudding’ as they say...ready for him to beat the Witch from Waco soon...
