Anybody see this (and I apologize if it's already been posted):

    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvss/...wJUfOlVQRJdyoLgi9Gh_3VAsDhVZ6dlBoAyXhhCtieLF4

It discusses coding concerning cause of death and guidelines on attribution to Covid-19. Seems like there's a lot of wiggle room...

Here are some comments from my Facebook page:

"There have been reports to attributing cause of deaths to covid 19 that were not really so....there was just a positive hit but should not have been labeled as such. However when you think in the end hospitals will receive funds based on the coding in the death...I would make darn sure my #s were up because hospitals are in the red and are cutting hours. Someone may wonder how can that be? When operating rooms are shut down 3 to 4 weeks before an influx of patients based on faulty predictions that were merely guesses you had people waiting around with no patients and no income generated from those procedures. Only emergency and transplants etc have been performed ....
And when patients arrive do not have insurance coverage which in the climate now will certainly increase...... and now insurance premiums will rise."

"Here in Gillespie County, with the exception of essential businesses staying open, retail is shut down. We still travel out and about around the county. There is no mandate for masks or shelter in place. Life has been SOMEWHAT normal. We’ve only had 1 case that has since recovered. Places like Laredo, SA, Austin are all examples of the most stringent regulations but their cases keep climbing."

I use DuckDuckGo as my default. They don’t track your searches or use them to profile their users. Google is the best search engine but they are never to be trusted.

I’ve also been using Firefox’s Tab Containers feature. Basically, you can specify that each tab is its own isolated browser, so if you need to log into Google or Facebook, use a private container tab and they will not be able to snoop on your other Firefox tabs and track your activity. Also good for banking sites or anything where privacy & security are important.

Do any of these browsers have a translation option? A huge reason why I use google chrome is that it translates German - something I frequently need.

I don't doubt that this is true. I'm sure that plenty of people who early on in the year died of what they thought were other illnesses were actually COVID-19 patients. Of course, a journalist who was trying to give a real picture of the pandemic rather than trying to propagandize would do more than just try to come up with speculative evidence that the numerator is bigger than we thought but also highlight evidence that reflects on the denominator.

If we're undercounting the deaths by 25,000 but undercounting the total number of cases by several million (which is quite likely), that paints a very different picture than simply wringing our hands about 25,000 more deaths.

bystander, I put something up last week, but don't apologize. This fact needs to be brought up multiple times. For example NYC only has ~9500 confirmed cases but they are reporting ~14,000. It is important to keep the IFR up, if you are going to continue to stoke fear.

I think there is very little chance NYC is under reporting COVID deaths. If so, their case and death data do not match the things we are seeing in CA, MA ,and CO. Most likely they are a bit over reporting.

Either way I calculated the IFR in NYC based on the seralogy studies in other locations in the country. Colorado completed a study yesterday as well. The case range is somewhere 10-80 times more than confirmed cases. I think that is on the lower end of the range for NYC. Here are some calculations I did last night.

More than confirmed Est. Cases Est. IFR % Population
    20xs 2,787,700 0.34% 33%
    50xs 6,969,250 0.14% 83%
    60xs 8,363 100 0.11% 100%

I showed these numbers to some Progressive friends of mine. They received them very well. I thought they would criticize, but they had been reading several things that gave credence to them. First, they all expect that NYC got hit early so the 33%-83% of the people being infected was plausible to them. This is also believable because the new case graph last night shows NYC is pretty much done.

Also, it looks like the Corona virus is already mutating to become less dangerous over time. This is good news. NYC seems to be hit with a strain more related to China and Europe. The strain in Texas seems less dangerous.

Coronavirus has mutated to become deadlier in Europe than the US, study finds

UK coronavirus deaths more than double official figure, according to FT study | Free to read

    Estimates 41K CV19 deaths in England/Wales

UK govt reports 17K CV19 deaths as of Apr21st mostly from hospital reports.

Johns Hopkins reports 18K CV19 deaths as of Apr22 update

The weekly death rate for all causes for the last 5 years averages 10,520 vs 18,516 for week ending Apr 10 which includes CV19 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has already caused as many as 41,000 deaths in the UK, according to a Financial Times analysis of the latest data from the Office for National Statistics. The estimate is more than double the official figure of 17,337 released by ministers on Tuesday, which is updated daily and only counts those who have died in hospitals after testing positive for the virus. The FT extrapolation, based on figures from the ONS that were also published on Tuesday, includes deaths that occurred outside hospitals updated to reflect recent mortality trends. The analysis also supports emerging evidence that the peak of deaths in the UK occurred on April 8 with the mortality rate gradually trending lower since, despite the 823 hospital deaths announced on Tuesday, which were sharply up on the 449 in the previous 24 hours. The ONS data showed that deaths registered in the week ending April 10 were 75 per cent above normal in England and Wales, the highest level for more than 20 years. There were 18,516 deaths registered during that period compared with the most recent five-year average of 10,520 for the same week of the year.

More deaths, no benefit from malaria drug in VA virus study

This "Veterans Affairs Secretary Shares Some Key Details About that HCQ Study the Media Is Obsessing Over"
But, as it turns out, that study is not all it's cracked up to be. There are a few factors that the media should pay more attention to.

"It's not a clinical study," Wilike explained. "It was done on a small number of veterans. Sadly, those who were in the last stages of life, and the drug was given to them."

Many Trump haters were deflated by the facts

The media always leaves out key facts in order to drive the narrative. If they're about to die the drug won't do them any good.

It is an effective treatment when begun early enough. If treatment begins after too much damage to the lungs have been done, it is too late.

The gasping at how errant the NIH/UVA study was versus the anecdotal evidence from any and all of the French study, the nursing home example, and the Wuhan one (all of which had 10x fewer case samples than the NIH one) is why no one should be giving credence to any of it. If your doctor prescribes it, fine. But hoping that the process leads to vindication for one side or the other of that argument is insane.

The morning Express-News says to expect meat prices to go up and shortages to start showing up in the markets two weeks from now as slaughterhouses shut down because of the virus. Six major meat facilities have closed in the last few weeks.

Oh, you are just fear mongering. Just because half the supply line doesn’t operate doesn’t mean there might be shortages and price hikes. You are just a liberal.

Just giving you an example of the responses I get.
