Thought I would create a thread list all our kids signing as free agents.

3 Draft Picks and 2 FA Signings. Pretty grim statistics.

I believe the minimum standard should be 7-10 Draft Picks (of which at least 4 are in rounds 1 and 2). Plus 3 to 5 Free Agent Signings.

I still think Herman can get there. Recruits follow wins. Texas consistently must win 10-13 games per year in order to turn the tide.

You want the standard (7 picks) to be something we've accomplished 1 time in the modern draft era? Same with 4 going in the first two rounds... we accomplished that in 2007 and 1982. That's not a standard... that's an outlier.

We were spoiled by Mack with the consistent double-digit win thing from 2001-2009. But he still only had 1 year that met your standard for draft success.

That's a heck of a minimum standard. That would mean each team we fielded would be two-deep with future drafted NFL players, and more that half our starters would be future 1st or 2nd rounders. Has even Alabama been that strong during this more-or-less 10-year dynasty?

Maybe average five drafted each year, three of which in the first three rounds, and 3 into free agency--that would be enough every year to be very good.

Extremely unrealistic. We bring back 7 starters on each side of the ball, and most of those guys were sophomores. This was the last of the Charlie Strong classes, and next year will be the first Tom Herman class, you know the one that was ranked 25 in 2017. There just wasn't a lot of NFL talent in those classes.

Outside of Texas 2004 draft, 2005 draft and 2006 draft, no other draft reached the numbers you are talking about.

None of Herman's high school signees have graduated yet.

Just a thought. His first class to graduate was the crash class he put together when he replaced Strong. So far, most have exceeded expectations.

Realistically, that's likely not going to be the 'standard', but I agree that Texas should be better.
