I watched him a couple of times in person last Fall. I thought he dominated. He was probably the best player on the field when I saw him.

We would have been 5-7 without him, so there's that. Reminds me of the impact Ricky had on that poor 1997 team. If he bolts for the NFL after that season, we probably go 5-6 in Mack's first year instead of 8-3.

I believe it. He looked really good in person. A pro.

Um might be a tad bit of a reach, but I feel you.
    Duv was the real deal.
Ravens fans are going to realize they got another Steve Smith w/out all the vocals.

We for sure lose to KU without him. Some of those plays he made that KU kept matching would not have been possible by anyone else, especially with CJ kind of gimpy. I was also lumping in the OK State game, which I think we probably could have lost even with Duvernay's good game.

For 1998, I was referring to -3 wins in the form of Nebraska, OK State, and A&M, although I could conceivably see the Baylor game as a loss too, considering Ricky was our only offense when we were making that comeback in the 4th quarter. So maybe 4-7 instead of 5-6 in Mack's first year.

I saw the Tech game: 6 receptions - 199 yards and the Kansas game: 8 receptions - 110 yards.

Which games was he the best player on the field? 18 players on teams we played were drafted ahead of him, and one on our own team was, too. Why wouldn't you say that Ehlinger dominated, since all those passes were on the money to Duvernay, over and over? Someone who knows can correct me, but didn't teams double cover Collin Johnson more than DD, thus leaving Duvernay a better chance to be open? He averaged 13 ypc, of which probably 4 or 5 was yac; which means his average catch was an 8-yard square-out that he pushed forward another few yards.

Vince Young dominated games. Ricky Williams dominated games. Even Aaron Williams or Earl Thomas dominated games in their own way. Roy Williams dominated games. Jamaal Charles dominated games. Derrick Johnson dominated games. D'Onta Foreman dominated games. Colt McCoy dominated games. Cedric Benson dominated games.

Devin Duvernay did not "dominate" games. Be real. He's not on that list. He was a very good player for us. Not as good as LJH was the year before, but the best receiver we had in 2019.

I did bring up Steve Smith as the ultimate success possibility for someone of Duvernay's measureables. Same size, speed, and strength (I think). It's quite a long shot, though. Smith had 1000+ catches and 14,000+ yards--twice the career of Dez Bryant, by comparison. "So, you're sayin' there's a chance...."

I listed the two games. Who said he was better than the guys you listed? It wasn't a comparison. It was THOSE TWO GAMES. That's my opinion.

Also, just looked up Collin Johnson. In 42 games over 4 years, he had more catches and a higher ypc, and thus more total yards, than Duvernay, even though DD played in 45 games over 4 years. They basically had identical careers.

I'm not trying to be gripey. I'm quarantined and bored and there's no sports on.

If there wasn't some inconsequential disagreement about past or future football on HF, what would I do?

The stats makes sense as CJ was part of the offense from day 1 while Duvernay was only used sparingly until his junior year. Their career totals may be similar but their career paths were totally different.

He played as well in the LSU game as anyone on the Tigers did - about equal to his counterparts JaMarr Chase (will probably be a high draft pick in a year or two) and 1st round pick Justin Jefferson while playing against 1st/2nd round draft picks Chaisson, Queen, Fulton and Delpit.

He was a man amongst boys against Tech. Just all over the place.

First drive against Kansas was almost all Duvernay. He took on the entire Kansas defense and won.

We’ll take it. Hopefully a couple others within the 3rd round.
Oregon 2 in the top 10? Hopefully the rest of the country will catch up and the SEC won’t have the top end numbers again. Georgia’s grad transfer projects as a first rounder.

I've seen Boykin play and he struck me as a TE-type. Like Malcolm Epps. Duvernay isn't competing with him for a WR spot; he'd be competing with him for targets.

Because of Lamar Jackson, the Ravens had an insane rush-to-pass ratio. It wouldn't work for any other team in the NFL, but sometimes you have a transcendent talent and take advantage of that. Their backup RB was 28th in the league in rushing yards, and still well behind Jackson and Mark Ingram. Even if Devin is going to break into the top-4 receivers, the numbers are going to be slim compared to what top-4 would be on any other team. I think he probably finishes 5th on the team in targets (behind the 2 TEs and Hollywood and the other WR), but takes advantage of some mismatches for a higher ypc than expected. Proche from SMU is also making waves for them... both need to get on the field. The Ravens are sick with offensive talent.
