Assembly Committee Passes Bill that May Lead to Reparation Payments - California Globe
Earlier this week, the Assembly Judiciary Committee voted 8 to 3 along party lines to set up a Task Force to compile documentation of the institution of slavery in the United States and then issue recommendations on reparations, which includes compensation in cash.
“It was a struggle for a long time in California,” noted Oakland African American neighborhood activist Leonard Davis. “Here in Oakland, Watts, Compton. And in recent decades it still comes up with Rodney King, O.J. Simpson, and Oscar Grant. We’re still not seen as worthy of having justice, or the public always goes against the word of an African American.”"

    OJ??
You would think considering the demographics they would offer more cash to Hispanics. Article points out the problem with deciding who gets reparations. Questions that apply whenever a race hustler brings it up for the country as a whole.

Easy. Tax Silicon Valley with massive state taxes. Think California will do that?

California never had slavery in it. They have no dog in this fight.

They will eventually force everyone out of the state anyway, so forget about California, they are a dead state. Not even Leftists will live there in 5 years.

Where will they reside? Maybe we need to build a wall between California and Texas to keep them out.

Talk about taking pandering to the extreme...as already noted, Commiefornia had no dog in the slavery fight.

If the legislature would have ANY lick of sense, they would hold their time-wasting Committee hearings and then vote to approve reparations to those persons who could demonstrate that their ancestors were 'victims' of slavery WITHIN the boundaries of what is now recognized as the State of California. Then, aside from the time and money wasted on the hearings, there would be no other outlay required...meanwhile, they DID successfully pander to the Oakland base by claiming they took up the issue.

I'm all for it. Anyone wanting to move to Texas from California must apply for a green card and submit to background check and voter check. If they don't pass they can visit but must leave after 30 days. This should go for all blue states. The only exception is businesses moving from California to Texas.

When you have a bunch of career politicians, who have never worked a day in their life, they get real free with other people's money.

No surprise. Remember, to much of the Left (especially white leftists), wokeness takes on the role that religion used to have. Yes, it's political pandering, but it's also a source of righteousness and personal atonement and redemption.

And the problem is this: Do we cut off all public assistance to all recipients going forward? Is the problem solved then? Should we increase criminal penalties for all who have received their payment or are we to continue to assume they are not psychology made whole (and I mean the impact of being a victim of the "systemic racism?" Should we net future reparations against prior public assistance going all the way back to when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed?

I heard 3x the annual California budget makes sense. I say 10x. Who cares if the state has a $25B deficit this year? MCBA = Make California Bankrupt Again

No amount will ever be enough. We'll just get another 30 million people strung out on drugs and escalate medical and other costs to 10x the reparations amount.

If reparations are paid, does anyone think that complaints about "Systemic Racism" will go away? Will this make the country better and less divided?

How do you prove that your ancestors were slaves? What if they were slaves in Jamaca or South America? Why should the US pay for it?

Newly released bodycam video shows the arrest of a woman who allegedly told Target employees they should give her items for free because she deserved reparations, court documents say.

Reading resident Karen Ivery, 37, became “belligerent” and “totally unruly” when she said she was not going to have enough money to pay for the merchandise that had been scanned, totaling $1,051, the Target cashier told police, according to an affidavit.

Bodycam footage shows Ivery telling officers she was trying to have a “larger conversation” about “how money works.”

“We all know money has not treated people equally,” she said, per the bodycam footage. Later, she added: “The system is rigged against people doing the right thing.”

The woman told Blue Ash police she was taking a stand. ‘This is my Rosa Parks moment.'

Love that the black lady's name is Karen, and it's her Rosa Parks moment! :lmao:
Also, the security guard rightfully punched her for being such a pain.

Only problem is it is Target and she will get her reparations due to the punch. Actually pretty smart.

    Good stuff in here

Dr. Amos Brown, a civil rights activist and reverend of the Third Baptist Church, told Fox News Digital. "Our sin bill in this nation has been so high, and because of the long years of doing nothing, the interest has grown."

"All we're saying is let's just chill out and pay your debt – your sin bill of enslavement. Of discrimination. Of intimidation. Of terrorizing Black people," Brown added.

A community "activist" can be good for the community or looking to line their pockets. You decide.
