Very interesting perspective. My frustration is simply, where were all the naysayers in mid-March or on April 1st? Perhaps they were out there and Google banned them, but I doubt it.
I am in the “we need to open now” crowd, and I have been there for perhaps 2-3 weeks. Open “carefully.” But I just cannot get my head around the suggestion that our reaction to C-19 has been “much ado about nothing.”
I need to have a tooth implanted and the replacement has been ready for two months but the idea of having someone in my face for 30 minutes — even with all of the protections — is very uncomfortable for me. Is that irrational, and is my hesitation based on misinformation and is it an overreaction?
My neck has been stiff for weeks and I need to see the chiropractor. When I do, even with an N95 mask, he will be inches away from my face. I’m not ready to go there just yet. Is that irrational, and is my hesitation based on misinformation and is it an overreaction?
Perhaps I am wrong but my fears are based primarily on stories of individuals who I know and it scares the crap out of me. Some ordinary people go through hell — for weeks and weeks — when they contract this virus. By contrast, I don’t remember having anything other than a mild case of the flu — which resolved in about 24 hours — in perhaps a decade. But then again, I get a flu shot every year.
I’m hoping for/counting on one of two things happening. Either the virus weakens and dissipates this summer or the treatments advance quickly such that dealing with C-19 won’t be as bad as was the caer for those who contracted it in February, March & April.
