Character is important. There is a reason we believe Longhorns are better than sooners.

You’re right. Character is important. Also, it’s just a cold.

It is. Show me scientific evidence that Coronavirus is not a cold.

You represent Barry Switzer. A known cheat and general bad person and you do so on a Longhorn board. We love your liberal banter but hate the fact you mooch upon Texas (I will assume you came to Texas for a job too). Chip in. Even a small amount makes you a sponsor and keeps a great site alive. I’m going to continue to call you out until you sponsor or go away. Dion might suspend me or send me a warning, but time to step up 2500 brother. Lobot can’t do this. He is a bot.

You don't know Barry Switzer, you have never met Barry Switzer, yet you make a generalization about the man?

If you dislike him, fine. But "bad person"? We have had several pieces of **** on coaching staffs.

Once again I shall state, I know few if any people as honorable in a business deal as Switzer. I also know of no coaches that cared more about their players than Switzer.

Yes, I did recruit against him, Bill, & Scott.

Keep hammering me. I was born in Texas. My parents moved to Oklahoma when I was 6 weeks old. I’ve been here ever since. I’m over educated but they are Oklahoma degrees so they don’t count to condescending Texans like you. Maybe quit making trailer cracks and your efforts might be more successful.

I put that picture up one week of the RRS and I’ve left it. He was a great coach, a great recruiter and a flawed man. My best friend from high school was a coach’s son who was a walkon during the bosworth era. He was a straight shooter who wouldn’t even drink back home cause his dad might find out. He respected the hell out of Switzer. That said a lot to me.

And this is a big reason why this kind of issue gets so polarized. Same for interracial crime. If a white person gets abused by a cop, the media generally doesn't care. If a white person gets attacked by a black person, the media really doesn't care. In fact, if the story gets covered at all, they'll go out of their way to avoid the racial angle. They'll even avoid mentioning the race of attacker to keep blacks from being stereotyped.

However, if a cop abuses a black person or if a white person attacks a black person (sometimes even just verbally), not only does it become a major national story, the media does the opposite of what it does with black-on-white incidents. They focus heavily on the racial angle to try to create and promote a stereotype and a false narrative (that white police officers and white people in general are racist and violent with blacks).

Furthermore, they will assign blame beyond the wrongdoer. It's not just a bad cop. It's a bad country. It's a bad and indifferent racial group (white people) that bears responsibility and should be soul searching. Just look at Switzer's comment. "We've got a problem in this country." He doesn't explain this, but I think we know what he means. He's acting like this is a big vindication of Colin Käpernick. He's repeating what virtually every mainstream media outlet says anytime something like this occurs. Why do this? Because when white people feel guilty, they are more receptive to voting for the politicians who claim or imply that they represent atonement for their guilt. And of course, it makes white liberals feel righteous and makes conservatives look tasteless and uncaring. In short, they want to replicate the 1964 or 2008 elections.

If you're a conservative, this means you know you're going to be attacked for something you had nothing to do with, and there's your polarization. The cop's wrongdoing is your wrongdoing. Well, if that's the case, it makes sense that the conservative is going to tend to lean in favor of the cop and hope that the cop wasn't wrong. It also doesn't help matters when more often than not, the media's framing of the story is found to be wildly wrong and gets no apology or change in behavior from them.

It becomes polarized when we have to wait for the murderer(s) to be charged with a crime and taken into custody by LEO. And then not murderize them once they are in custody by LEO.

And the murderer has murdered before. And walked. The problem is the police are murdering people, sometimes in their custody.

Yes. We have a problem in this country.

If you're a racist pos, this means you know you're going to be attacked for something you had nothing to do with, and there's your polarization.

The FBI was investigating whether officers willfully deprived Floyd of his civil rights. Where’s the disconnect? I watched a murder. While folks pleaded with the murderer not to commit murder. What additional facts are we waiting for before the murderer is charged with the crime? Of ******* murder.

The officers could already have been arrested, tried, and executed for this, and it would still be polarizing. What you're missing is that the actual officer's conduct in isolation largely isn't polarized. Very few defend him. It's taking this anecdote and imputing fault to the collective based on it and in bad faith that is polarizing.

And what basis do you have to call me a racist POS? That sure as hell doesn't help avoid polarization.

Ignoring that no officer has been charged, much less arrested. What I’m missing is acknowledgement of a crime.

But at the end of the day, that isn't what matters to you. I have no qualms about acknowledging a crime. It certainly looks like a crime to me. However, you still think I'm a racist POS (without explanation or evidence) and think this is at least partially my fault. That's the source of the polarization.

No one cares about your feelings. We demand equal justice under the law and tonight a murderer is free.

Then why should I care about yours or anyone's? Why should I care about Floyd? Why should I care about his family? I don't know them. Under your standard, I should just shrug and say, "hell with 'em."

Of course, the reason why we should care about others is that we're better off living in a civil society. We can't have a civil society if we don't have at least some degree of care and good faith for those we don't necessarily know.

No you don't. If you did, then you would seek unity on the issue (which is actually pretty easy on a case like this) rather than division. You choose division, because it's a more effective political weapon. That's the higher priority for you.

Still awaiting for an explanation of why I'm a racist POS . . .

This isn’t about you or your feelings. It’s about the law. And those we trust to enforce it who murder. In a civil society, the murderer would be charged.

I think there will be charges. Usually when cops kill somebody in the line of duty a grand jury looks at it before justice proceeds. There is so much video evidence that "reasonable doubt" would be a tall order for even the best defense attorney. It could happen that the skinny-armed cop I saw on the video will spend a lot of the next 30 years sleeping between the mattress and somebody who looks kinda like the man he killed. Justice and mercy have to be balanced. We will need to know if the cop had terrible training, was dumber than Forest Gump, angry with reasonable cause.... There is plenty we don't know.

Why is the govt allowing these rioting folks to violate social distancing orders?

If they were trying to paddle board or skateboard, they would all be in jail already

I hope the pos police officer gets exactly what he deserves and the other 3 who did not stop it get what they deserve > I did not know 2 of the 4 were minority.

BUT what also needs addressed is the destructive rioting . Looting Targets and burning businesses is NOT protesting. That is committing crimes.
