So basically you want a saint and a perfect diplomat for a coach. I am not exactly happy with Herman either but I am willing to be forgiving and I am excited enough to give Herman another year just because he had enough humility (or desperation) to make coaching changes, plus, I am excited about the new coaches. And he recruits well enough.

I think most here would agree he waited too long to replace To Orlano when even Stevie Wonder could see the schemes weren't going to work in the B12.

You have wanted him gone from your very first days on this site. Don't start acting like this is some new revelation for you.

Absent the input of ‘Joe Fan’ this site degenerates to something that is annoyingly “Aggie”. Fire the Coach is the main theme of the RECRUITING page. Does anybody see the irony of that negativity? Aggie finally is paying a coach so much (Higher buy-out than Saban and Swinney combined). They can’t fire him and nobody will ever hire him. He’s on much more solid ground than Sul Ross! So now we can’t stop harping about. Does anybody think that helps recruit or that recruits don’t watch? How about some recruiting news and an ENTIRE thread for the b**** session?

Yep, this really gets old....be good if we all would focus on the positive instead of the perceived negatives.....all football programs have negatives just as humans do....

Positive vibes are much better for everyone!!

many on here are really being good at judging others!!

let's focus on recruiting and stay away from evaluating coaches et al

as 'de68 inferred, recruits and parents read this board....maybe Brockermeyer twins and others have read it and said 'no thanks'....!

Oh, it’s you again. Either you’re playing dumb or the other alternative (trying not to violate posting guidelines) but if you can’t acknowledge the recent spike in activity, i.e. fire not just burning but burning well, then you can find someone else to argue semantics with.

Herman would be toast if he objected to what the players are doing. It's over his head now. He has to decide if he wants to coach here or not. He has to decide if he supports his players or not. Deep down inside he wants to win football games. He needs the players and they know it. In this day and age, the players have fully realized their leverage which is to say they collectively have power; enough to ignore any agreements they have made.

I thought that Herman would be the man . It seems he is just in this job as a stepping stone for a better job. He does not bleed orange. However it seems that the players do not either. They are just out for themselves. Oh! for the old days when kids would live and die for the burnt orange. Times have changed and I guess we will have to or move on. I no longer watch NFL football, and it looks as if college football will be in the past also.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

The pressure on Herman to win should be increased now. He has put the players ahead of his boss (UT) and his customers (BMDs). The only hope he has of winning over the customers is to win a Big12 title. Patience with "progress" or "better than Charlie" is likely thin. My patience is gone, but I'm not a BMD, damnit.

I think he's in a difficult position. Hopefully the BMD's and the administration can decouple the political from the results. If the season once again putters out then big decisions have to be made. And if the players all support Herman due to his political pronouncements then it could be tricky.

Those who REALLY control the university must love it enough to allow the mega-trend of human interaction evolution to take some shape. The past is over. I don't see this as a fad. The bell has tolled. Racism is going to be attacked on all levels. The university must look to the future and not to the past.

I for one don't have any problem removing statues and names. I do believe that BLM has made the mistake of becoming a political force with demands that expand its mission far beyond one of basic human decency and equality on the streets. This will be the point of demarcation. The players cannot expect the university to openly support political demands such as reparations and the like.

If BLM can evolve to a human rights organization similar to what Dr. King fostered then they can bring all Americans into the fold. But attacking white people for the sins of the past and privilege without explanation of what it means going forward, then the battle lines will remain.

I agree with removing confederate statues and names. Removing founding fathers of the US and Texas are non-starters with me. BLM is a marxist organization working for the overthrow of the US. This is what their leaders have said and what their website says or used to say. Any support of BLM is unacceptable to me.

I don't know if it's by design or just how things go, but the conflation of patriotism with Kaepernicks kneeling was a tactical mistake if the purpose was to galvanize support from white people. It forced them to make a choice when the choice should not have been the issue.

Same with BLM. I for one believe their core mission of equality and fight against racism to be legitimate. But their revolutionary platform once again conflates Liberal politics with humanitarian concerns. Again, a choice is being thrust upon us.

Apparently, the Liberal tactic is to attack white people and America. Maybe it's working.

Is there anyplace on Hornfans for a person interested in recruiting? For that matter is there anyplace for something other than BLM, fire Herman, or tear down statues. As compelling as those subjects unquestionably are, I have not taken a monastic vow of singular mindedness. Any place. Can we start one?

You must have missed my earlier recruiting reports:

    - I hear there is a little known recruit named Malcolm X, as in the X factor, rising fast on the recruiting boards. Really good at getting separation (of the races) and dividing the field (black caucus).

    - I forgot to mention a rising star named A.L. Sharpton, often on the (street) corner - known to be a real trash-talker.

    - Don’t forget AO Cortez at tight end (in a pant suit). Needs to fill out, but the school that gets to sign this player will be picking up free money (policy).

All of this is true. Most people would love to have an education paid for, free food and all the perks that go with being a scholarship athlete at TEXAS. I just wish more coaches would adopt the next man up mindset for those who want to make a statement. Do that on your time. Here you are on our time & our dime if you are a taxpayer.

Alabama is like OU. The players never flunk out and never have issues. Obviously, better teachers and coaches.

I think he would rather be at Ohio State or one of the California schools. His demeanor does not seem to fit Texas. I still hope he is the coach to lead this team, however he has not shown it at this point.

I actually think its because of the kind of head coach they have. He doesnt kiss anyones back side and if you dont value what is being provided, his philosophy is next man up. Herman has improved Texas significantly over charlie but I am hoping his 2 new coordinators deliver as most of us expect. Time will tell. I am sick of the fear mentality we see in the news about we cannot confront poor behavior. Take a &^$^%$# stand for something. Dont be a Mike Gundy. He is a good coach but a poor example of a human being. He bent over and took it in the arse. He is like a lot of people who doesnt value his opinion enough to say its ok for us to believe differently. That has somehow become a bad thing.

If Herman started putting us in the playoffs on a regular basis, he could change the fight song to Yankee Doodle Dandy and be in good standing.
