I think a lot of this nonsensical rhetoric will magically disappear once we get past the election. That is the usual pattern.

So will the coronavirus fearporn. I think if Biden wins, it will disappear in one day.

And the MSM will claim Biden cured covid-19 and cancer the same day.

What if the whole point is to reduce police forces to the point where they are unable to have any real effect. Then antifa and BLM mobs can exert more power in those cities. The police force is still there to "steer the herd" away from politicians and woke elites. Taxes must stay up so that normal citizens don't have the additional resources they will need to protect and organize themselves.

I don't know that is what is happening, but if it was, we would be seeing much of the same rhetoric happening.

This is all about the election too
There is no medical reason for it
Kids dont die from it (something that sets this virus apart from the Spanish Flu) nor do they give it to teachers
It's all about politics and hurting the economy going into November
    Teachers Unions are evil

Joe Fan, much of this mess about keeping schools closed, is that everyone is misinformed. I know many, many teachers. They are all scared of going back to work. All the parents I know are concerned about what will happen when a child or teacher show up to school with the virus. They think the school will then have to shut down.

I simply say, make everyone sign a waiver. No one gets sued. No one gets in trouble for having the virus. Most people so, "oh yeah" and drop the subject.

But teachers are super scared. That means the unions are either telling them to be scared or they are misinformed as well. No one is sharing the CDC statements with them. No one is explaining to them what every country in the EU is doing. I try, but they don't trust me over all the news they are watching on TV.

I think on his album "Live Alive" he mentions apartheid and says something to the affect of "I may be White, but I'm not Stoopid"---well, sheet, He is taking up your cause 30 yrs prior!! dumb sheets!!

Misinformed teachers. Hilarious. Would they accept that from their students? Unable to research and learn for themselves. Ironic.

True Mona. My daughter teaches 8th grade and cannot wait to get back under whatever conditions they impose but says many of her friends are scared. Whole thing sucks. Other daughter, an attorney in Nashville, has three school age boys And I suspect she cried at the news on the delay.

Glad to hear your daughter sounds more sensible. Obviously, my comment above was only intended for those teachers who would simply listen to what the union says.

Most teachers are activist liberals and partisan Democrats. If it makes Trump look bad, they will believe it regardless of the merits.

My daughter is a fifth grade teacher and a flaming, Beto supporting, liberal. But she’s so bored, I think she’d rather go back and catch the virus than stay home with her two teenage sons anymore (who haven’t exactly been quarantining themselves).

They are all connected at the national level. The top teachers union people coordinate and sometimes take orders from top national Democrats and the DNC (maybe you've heard their names, maybe you haven). It happens every day.
Why? Because there is a huge flow of money every year, every month and every payday between these groups. Money is the primary driver for all of it, whether it is Dem campaigns wanting money or the teachers wanting job, pay and benefit protection. It's a type of protection racket.

I think Nashville teachers are angling to work from home, giving students two or three hours of their time each day online. And they want full pay and full benefits for this.

Here is an idea. If they want to work 3/8ths of a day, then pay them 3/8ths of their usual pay and benefits. Refund the remaining 5/8ths back to property owners who pay the school taxes. My suspicion is that if you invoke this rule, they will suddenly forget its an election year and declare classrooms are safe again. Let's try it and see.

My wife is a 2nd grade teacher. She relays her co-workers complaints to me. What I hear is a bunch of lazy people who are using the coronavirus as an excuse so they don't have to work as hard. They got what they wanted out of this in that parents maybe have a little better understanding of what teachers have to deal with, but they then turn around and undercut their own argument that schools and teachers are essential and important by advocating for remote learning, where they mostly just pass on the materials provided by the school district and dont' add any value.

Funny how across the spectrum this is. My daughter, eight grade teacher, is all about how insane the ‘structured’ return and partial return, is absurd. My other daughter with three school age is completely distraught (Davidson Co where they’re not starting for supposedly 30 days) as to how she will handle it as both she and husband work. And yet they both know many teachers who claim to be scared to return to classroom. The whole thing is insane, hmmmm kinda like America right now.

I have a sister-in-law who teaches preschool in Chicago. She doesn't like Trump and was a big stay at home advocate. Now, preschools in Chicago may get cut from what my wife told me from her sister. Guess who thinks the kiddies ought to go back to school now....

The is potentially a real life test coming for this theory^^.
The thing to watch for is the reaction of the superwoke mayors and the superwoke school superintendents if Joe Biden wins the election.
How long will they wait before they give the "all clear" that schools safe again?
    One week? Two weeks? Three?
And they could care less that they will be exposed as the giant lying hypocrites that they are.
    Why?
Because they know they will have cover from our corrupt media and the Democrat Party.
Nothing matters anymore. It's all just one giant racket and protection plan.

I am even willing to throw down a friendly bet about this with any one of you.
    Here are the terms --
    1. We will use Nashville as the standard since they are mentioned above
    2. Biden must win the election
    3. Within 3 weeks of the formal announcement of the election results, Nashville public schools will announce students will be returning to the classroom. It will be as if Senile Ole Joe came out of his cave, much like Punxsutawney Phil, and magically cured the virus
    4. Bet is off if they reopen Nashville public schools prior to the election

Joe, I totally agree. Teachers should have a choice on some level, but what they choose should have consequences in payment.

That is my problem with the online learning. 2nd graders can't teach themselves. I had a kindergartner this year going into 1st grade. Online learning means my wife and I have to teach him. I'll do it but give me my money back.

And what about underprivileged kids who lack access to consistent, reliable WiFi? What are they supposed to do?
Not to mention all their free meals: breakfast and lunch.
This one move could retard the remainder of their entire education experience. Some of them will never recover. An entire generation.

"United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to "keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18."

Yet the union goes even farther than those requests, calling for "local support" in the form of defunded police departments and the shuttering of charter schools.

Police violence "is a leading cause of death and trauma for Black people, and is a serious public health and moral issue," the union writes. ( WTH?)The document calls on authorities to "shift the astronomical amount of money devoted to policing, to education and other essential needs such as housing and public health."
L.A. teachers union says schools can't reopen unless charter schools get shut down, police defunded

These people just post lie after lie and never get called on it.

CyFair ISD, the state’s third largest school district is providing Chrome books to every student along with access to WiFi for those that cannot afford it

That's nice. Free WiFi is also a good perk for the rest of the family.
    Are they funding it nationwide?
