Honest question here. Has The University of Texas at Austin been reputed to be non-inclusive and a hostile environment for minorities in the recent past? Well, I mean since before George Floyd died.

As has been pointed out, if not for the athletic scholarships, how many of these players would be accepted to even be included at UT in the first place?

Oops. I know , that must be RACIST!!!

I think Hartzell did all he could do with a very difficult situation. I thought the letter was very well thought out - not as impressed with Herman's comments, certainly not ending with "a great first step" remark. just mo

Will the puppeteers be banned from campus and contact with the athletes?

It was a big deal in the early 90’s. The top ten rule and other things made it better for black enrollment and put the issue(s) to rest. Not surprising to have a re-look at the issue(s) every 20 years or so. Same thing happens to other issues (energy, pollution, trade deals, tax reform).

I don't give a ****, but will probably be happier if they play somewhere else.

It would be interesting to see the fans turn their backs on the players who refuse to stay on the field for the Eyes of Texas. I have no desire to force anyone to do anything. Never have. Never will. That's Unamerican. But in the spirit and intent of the song; WE LOVE OUR SCHOOL, it would be cool to see the fans, EN MASSE, turn around for five seconds each time one of the players who refuses to sing makes a good play.

You don't care about us. We don't care about you. You're just here for yourself. So we're not with you.

Until he takes a pick 6 to the house.

It really shouldn't matter. If you're here as a true mercenary, then I don't care about your exploits. It means nothing to me.

I'll have to think about that; perhaps a pick 6 against Oklahoma will warrant a "golf clap"

Not saying I agree with everything the players did, but hard to believe we won’t go nuts when one of them makes a big play. Doesn’t work that way........0A806687-91A7-4E4A-B86B-E84E14954D35.gif

Okay. My short time there in the 80s as a white guy, the 2 guys I hung out with the most were a black guy and Chinese guy from my high school. So, I wasn't aware of any issues facing those guys. We hung out with a diverse crowd. But now I'm old and white, thus racist.

I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying it would be cool.

I also thought it would be cool if every Dallas Cowboys fan stayed in the parking and didn't enter the game until the second quarter as a protest against Jerry Jones as GM.

    We can dream can't we?

This is not over. Next year, a new set of players will be back with the same old demands they did not get this year, plus a few more. This will not ever end until somebody tells these guys to hit the road if they don't like it here.

Not sure. The new guys don’t have an excuse of saying they didn’t know about the culture or whatever.

CdC needs to have a man to boy conversation with Herman. In that discussion, CdC needs to make sure that Herman understands that what came out today is it, and he (Herman) has to fully explain the traditions of the University of Texas and what has been done to every recruit. If the recruit says more needs to be done - bye.

So I guess Saban and Krzyzewski should be fired for similar posts/stances as well.

Why should they be fired? Because they are LEADERS? Because they handled things outside the media without acting like an inexperienced nine year old?

Herman has no common sense. He is NOT a leader. Did Saban or Coach K make the situation worse? There are over 2500 HS coaches in Texas that could have handled the situation better than Herman, and not a single one of them makes anywhere close to $5 million a year.

Herman is history in Austin. Start preparing your short list for Chris.

I'm not "whining", just stating facts. I WAS WRONG to make Herman my first choice and be happy we got him. If this was business, not politics, Herman would have already been fired.

The damage is done, and the "stain" of these activities will live on The University for decades. I detest when someone takes something I love and makes it less than it was. Ask Howard Schnellenberger or you could ask Donnie Duncan if that worthless piece of **** was still alive.

So two years from now, the only thing that will be better will be the demands of the second wave of extortion puppets.
