Sm’Yah Smith of DeSoto has a torn ACL and is out for the year according to DMNews. She is ranked No 1 recruit in Texas for 2022 and Numner 17 in country. DeSoto is loaded but will miss her in the playoffs.

If she hasn't been offered already, it's only a matter of time. 2022 G KK Bransford (Cincinnati, OH) is #9 in the class and is followed by all 3 assistant coaches. The 5' 10" SG was also a teammate of Aaliyah Moore on the 2019 U16 Team.

Classic in the Country Challenge-January 2020: Versatile, physical guard exploits mismatches, finishes plays through contact; displays soft touch in mid-range game; powers to the rim, scores in traffic and cashes in at the stripe; consistent mid-range production. (Olson)

Her game is very similar to former Texas commit Deja Kelly

Coach Lovato started following 6'4 Amina Muhammad of DeSoto on twitter, and vice verse. She has received recent scholarship offers from Miss. State and North Carolina.

Lovato also started following Ayanna Patterson of Fort Wayne, IN.

Texas offered her last June - it’s encouraging to see she got the Vic seal of approval.

Coach Johnnie Harris started following superstar guard, Ashlon Jackson of Hardin-Jefferson on twitter, and vice verse. She seems to be tight with DeYona Gaston.

She also started following 6'5 Tionnah Herron of DeSoto on twitter, and teammate Michayla Gatewood.

Harris also started following 6'7 Lauren Betts of Colorado.

And, just like Lovato, started following Ayanna Patterson of Fort Wayne, IN.

Not familiar with this recruiting site (World Recruiting Exposure), but they have the 6'3 Ayanna Patterson ranked #2 nationally for the class of 2022.

Not to be excluded, but Coach Jackson also started following Ayanna Patterson.

With all our assistant coaches starting to follow her on twitter, I'd expect to see some social media soon of an offer from Texas having been extended.

ProspectsNation blurb on Ashlon Jackson from this past weekend's camp:

This was our first opportunity to work with Jackson. The first thing that caught the staff’s attention was her positive demeanor. She was completely locked in during the opening shooting drills taking her range all the way out to 25 feet on the catch and shoot. Defensively, Jackson showcased herself as an elite option in that regard as well fighting over screens in pick and roll action while guarding the likes of Rori Harmon in doing so.

Not sure if this was about the new Texas staff officially offering Carlie Wenzel:

Coach Lovato is following 6'3 Kiersten Johnson (Dallas) on Instagram. Don't know anything about her other than she plays club ball with Lady Drive Nation.

6'5 Tionna Herron of DeSoto started following Vic Schaefer and Elena Lovato on twitter don't see them following her yet. Looks like she recently received offers from Ole Miss and Kansas.

DeSoto is definitely loaded for 2022. Believe our previous coaching staff offered 3 or 4 of their palyers.

Sm’Yah Smith seems to be all Baylor based on her twitter page.

“Tree” Herron definitely had an offer from the previous staff. I saw her and a few of her teammates at the Texas@TCU game this past season.

Herron has some nice skills. While I wouldn't call her a "banger" down low, she runs the floor very well for someone 6'5. I would take her and teammate Amina Muhammad for sure.

She is being followed by Johnnie Harris and coach Lovato so I think she is being recruited. We will need a post for the 2022 class to replace collier so I think the staff might just add two for safe measures and of course we also have the portal

Not sure where we stand with Ashlon Jackson. But, if we sign Kyndall Hunter for 2021, I'd say Jackson becomes more of a luxury than a necessity. Of course, she is a much bigger guard than Rori or Kyndall, so that allows her to play out on the wing, as well.

I thought Texas offered her already??? Based on what is in here it does not list Texas as a list of her offers. It says Mississippi state offered her in May and Baylor offered in February but Texas is not in there

I wasn't expecting to land her, as most of the elite in Colorado usually end up at Stanford.

Misspelled her name - Ashlon Jackson. My guess is the big news is probably her Top 5(ish):

Looks like Johnnie has her sights on a Big (capital B was appropriate)...6’ 7” Kennedy Basham of Phoenix, AZ (Pinnacle High School).

ESPN: Superior shot blocking presence with emerging offensive game consistency; makes plays through contact in the block, brings a soft touch in the key, adding offensive weaponry, continues to emerge as a coveted prospect in the class of 2022.

Basham is ranked #30 on ESPN Hoopgurlz. 4 Star.

    Glad we offered Basham.

Her brother is a 2021 hoops verbal commitment to Pepperdine. With Kennedy having received offers from UCLA and USC several weeks ago, we'll see if having both siblings in the LA area will factor into her decision.

I see coach Harris has a type of player she likes to develop and I love it!! Basham has a very raw talent and much farther along than McCowan was at that age. She also has a good 3 point shot so she can stretch the floor. I can't even begin to imagine how much she will thrive under Harris.
