    19 years here, too, Sangre...
    They ruined it.
I tell anyone interested how great Austin "use to be."

Mech E/Math minor and Construction Engineering/Business minor for the two boys.

Both got 100% full rides to UNT. Coming out of school with no debt and not having to worry about money while in school are huge factors for the both of them.

Computer Animation for my daughter. UT doesn't even offer that as an option.

daughter got her BS Nursing from Abilene Christian, son is a senior in Cockrell school of engineering as ME major---he didn't get into Rice and was very disappointed, but told him Cockrell was better than anything in engineering from Rice anyway! :hookem:

Sangre, UNT is trying to eliminate all conservative student groups affiliated with their school. But that fits my statement. UNT worked for your kids even though the school is crazy. It's all we can do at this point.

We have lost a very important principal in the Bible. "If any man will not work, let him not eat". It's as simple as that, either they are teachers or they are not. If they wish to not teach, then they can be replaced. I'm going to start going to board meeting for my school district, and I will no longer let my voice go unheard in these matters. These unions have the right to do as they want, I have the right to pull my children out of their school and put them in private school or better yet home school them.

oh if only more could have means for that choice. Or better still, if only more would simply make that choice.

Yes, Bill, but neither choice reduces your ad valorem taxes, which are outrageous

Yes, but I can keep from letting my children's minds from being brainwashed by liberal drones.

Fortunately I grew up in a small town, where teachers were not allowed to discuss politics; hell they weren't even allowed to drink. Everyone was a yellow dog democrat. I had to wait until I arrived at The University of Texas to experience the attempted liberal brainwashing. What I experienced was misfits and malcontents turning me into a Republican.

Ironically, my grandfather was a dyed in the wool Democrat and union organizer, yet when I was a child he told me that Texas was going to elect John Tower, and that in my lifetime I would be a Republican. That was in the early 60s

Speaking of John Tower. My mother was one of the original “Tower Bells”.

Your mother was damn good looking then. Everyone on Capitol Hill invited Tower to every function because the Belles” would be there.

Also, if you wanted to visit DC, the Belles could get you passes to every attraction. My children got a private tour of The White House thanks to one of them. It was a 7 AM, but still separate from the common masses.

Lol, San Antonio never changes and if it does it's doing so at a snails pace. The hard core idiots in San Antonio all seem to migrate to Austin.

We're probably going to make that choice for Deez, Jr. at least this year. He had to get a tetanus booster this past week, and I asked his German pediatrician if he thinks kids should be at school. He said the health risks to kids are so minor that it shouldn't even be a point of serious discussion.

Having said that, I'm planning to keep Deez, Jr. home schooled this year - not because of health risks but because of the attitudes and how disgruntled the "guvmint" school teachers are. Some of them are probably too professional to take their freakouts out on a 6 year old kid, but there are plenty who aren't. And there's no way for me to know how his particular teacher will be until it's too late. They don't want to show up, and I sense that they'll do what they can to make it difficult on parents and students to teach us a lesson for sending the kids back.

Of course he is right but there is no way to wrest control from the unions.
How long before he is doxxed?

Wouldn’t robberies be down after all that looting? Why risk getting arrested for robbery when you can loot without penalty. Duh!

What are the actual numbers though? After all (and I know Austin isn't THIS low but bear with me)...if there were four murders last year and five this year, it is a huge gain percentage-wise. However the actual tally is within a normal swing.

Ditto with the robberies. Other question is how many people were being arrested...a one-person crime wave can really tilt numbers when it comes to cases filed.

Or become a City Councilman . There's one conservative on the SA City Council and he's stepping down after this term. All the others vote as a block for whatever liberal BS is brought before them.

They're expected to vote on a resolution that declares that racism is a Health Crisis, if they haven't already. I suppose that after they declare it a health crisis they can hand out some reparations or something.

SA is insanely liberal. They were offered a chance to bid on the Republican convention, which (except for Covid) would have brought millions into the city. They said, "Thanks, but no thanks".

One could sense the beginnings of this about SA 15 yrs ago. Very liberal. I'll go out of my way to NOT support cities like this

Next time I go thru SA I'll go all 'Amon Carter Sr' on them. Carter, a most notable Ft Worthian who disliked Dallas so much that he carried a sack lunch with him if he had a business meeting in Dallas. He didn't want to support the town in any way shape or form (excessive, but I liked the sentiment)
